Just a friendly reminder that we only have until 4pm Wednesday, 3rd June, for MOT testing before our holiday period.

🚫 We will not be carrying out any MOTs or re-tests between 3rd June and 17th June. 🚫

If you think your MOT may be due between now and then, it's worth having a quick check and getting booked in if needed.

💡 Remember, MOTs can be carried out up to 30 days early without affecting your renewal date, so you won't lose any time by having it done in advance.

If you'd like to book in, give the office a call, and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

New MOT Legislation for Electric Vans Over 3.5 Tonnes

The UK Government has confirmed new legislation for zero-emission vans weighing between 3.5t and 4.25t, helping align them more closely with equivalent diesel vehicles. 🚐🔋

📅 The changes come into effect from 1st June 2026.

Key changes include:

✅ 3.5t–4.25t electric vans moving from HGV testing into the standard Class 7 MOT system
✅ First MOT due after 3 years instead of after 1 year
✅ Reduced operational restrictions for electric vans
✅ Easier and more accessible MOT testing for operators and fleet owners

The changes are aimed at removing barriers caused by the additional weight of EV battery systems and supporting the transition to zero-emission commercial vehicles across the UK.

With ramp capabilities of up to 5 tonnes, we are well equipped to carry out this work and continue supporting customers with the latest EV servicing and MOT requirements as legislation evolves. 👨‍🔧⚡

Holiday Notice & Important Workshop Update

Quick update for all customers: Dan, Lisa, Aimee, and Little Dan will be away from the office and workshop from the end of the day on 3rd June, returning on 17th June. 🚐🌴

During this time:

📞 Phones will remain open between 8:30am and 5:30pm only.
🔑 The office will be open for vehicle collections and deliveries only, and these will be on limited hours.
👨‍🔧 With only two technicians remaining on site, workshop availability will be limited, so please plan ahead where possible.

🚗 Any customers with vehicles booked in will be contacted directly regarding arrangements

❗ Please note: there will be no MOT testing available during this period as Dan will be away.

If your MOT is due around this time, we strongly recommend booking in before 3rd June. Remember, you can have your MOT carried out up to 30 days before the expiry date without losing any time on your renewal. ✅

🔧 Aston Martin DB9 In for Investigation & Repair 🔧

This stunning Aston Martin DB9 originally came into us for something as simple as blocked windscreen washer pump. However, as part of our complimentary Vehicle Health Check (carried out on all vehicles), it quickly became clear there was far more going on beneath the surface.

Our inspection uncovered several serious concerns:
• Oil leaks from the sump and timing cover, likely due to previous incorrect sealing work
• Multiple non-genuine / low-quality aftermarket components fitted throughout the vehicle
• Non-original coolant pipes secured using tape and cable ties
• Cracked offside front sill, consistent with incorrect lifting
• Auxiliary drive belt found loose and fraying
• Clear evidence of previous repair work and non-factory markings across key components

After discussing with the customer, the decision was made to restore the vehicle properly. Due to extremely limited working space on this model, the manufacturer's repair instructions were obtained from Aston Martin's technical hub, and the correct procedure is to lift the body from the powertrain as a whole to allow safe and thorough access.

We’ve now begun corrective work, including rectifying the oil leaks and replacing key drivetrain components with genuine parts to bring this DB9 back to the standard it deserves.

For vehicles of this calibre, we strongly recommend genuine dealer parts to ensure reliability, performance, and longevity.

Yesterday we had this stunning, bright-blue Lotus Emira V6 in, alongside an Aston Martin DB9 V12. Two very different machines, but both absolute icons in their own way.
