427hp. Through the front wheels. And all of it usable.
MK7 Golf GTi in for stage 3.
Work carried out:
*IS38 turbo supplied and fitted
*New HPFP after the original shaft seal failed and let fuel wash into the oil, pulling the fuel trims rich
Now the intercooler. The customer supplied their own for us to fit. It didn't fit. The finish was rough, no internal air guides, and not a single bit of branding on it anywhere. A cheap copy sold at a serious markup. And it cost them more than the Direnza MVT we ended up supplying, which actually fit, and flows and cools correctly. Paying premium money for a worse part is the worst of both worlds.
Then onto the dyno for stage 3 calibration on Simos18, with our full set of extras that make a real difference on these FWD cars:
*Switchable maps across 3 power levels
*Switchable pops and bangs
*Boost by gear
*No lift shift (manual box)
*Advanced traction control tuning, a big improvement on a FWD stage 3
*Rolling anti-lag
Result: 427hp and 565nm, made on 99RON with octane booster.
Anyone can chase a big number. Getting it down through two driven wheels without lighting them up is the hard part. That's what the traction control tuning is for, and it's why this GTI drives as clean as it does.
