One of my pupils came to me with some driving experience, but she was terrified of hill starts, hesitant to go above second gear, and had absolutely no confidence in her ability to judge gaps at roundabouts.
Fast forward just 14 hours of lessons, and she's now driving independently, making safe, confident decisions, parking like an absolute boss, and today she tackled the motorway with confidence too. 💪🚗
I suggested adding a motorway lesson into her training, and although it was a little outside her comfort zone, she trusted the process and was completely on board. She knew she'd be using motorways once she'd passed, and didn't want to limit her learning to just what was needed to pass the driving test. That willingness to keep learning is exactly what helps create safe, confident drivers.
Seeing someone go from doubting every decision they make behind the wheel to driving with confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of being a driving instructor. Learning to drive isn't just about passing a test, it's about building the skills and self-belief to drive independently for life.
I'm so proud of how far she's come. She's proving to herself that she's capable of so much more than she ever believed. 👏🎉
