Using 'accident' to describe a crash presumes no one was at fault, and implies the crash was unexpected and unavoidable. In reality, road deaths are preventable and often caused by the actions of drivers, the failure of our transport systems and an inadequate legal system. It's time to end the language of denial

🎉 Before you sleigh to your holiday gatherings, ensure a secure journey home with a plan in place – be it a designated driver, lift share, or public transport.

If you drink, try to drink responsibly, keeping the celebration merry without compromising safety. And if you've indulged a bit too much, patience is the key – wait until you're sober before hitting the road. Your body only metabolises alcohol at roughly a unit per hour, so don't just assume you're safe to drive home in the morning!

Research shows that a lack of hydration can be as dangerous as driving over the alcohol limit. Being poorly hydrated reduces your concentration and causes tiredness.

So, next time you're on a long journey, make sure to take adequate breaks and stay hydrated! 💧💧

We discuss in lessons “ What If’s” a lot and it’s amazing how many scenarios crop up.

One that sticks in my mind was looking to emerge into a 40 mph road one day….just as a zebra was charging past us … the poor thing was obviously terrified!! 🦓
It had escaped from the circus on the field across.

Great scenario for the pupil to remember and use in future situations. We literally never know what might happen next!

Why do so many drivers think they know how other road users will react to things they meet on the road?

The answer is simple - 'they'll do what you think they'll do of course'.

Where's your "what if " factor?

The safe answer is trust nobody to do what you 'think' they'll do.

Expect the Unexpected.

Always leave something in reserve - just in case!

YOU put the safety into the equation.

Passing your driving test gives you independence and freedom. But taking your test too early could lead to a failed test, disappointment, and potentially delays to you getting on the road.

AMBER means 'Stop' at the stop line, if it is safe to do so ( let’s interperate that).

Amber traffic lights mean the lights are about to change to red.

You should stop unless it's not safe to do so; for example if you've already crossed the stop line or someone is driving very close behind you, in which case it could cause a collision!
