Martyn’s recently purchased 65 Beetle visited us for what was originally intended to be a service and an asses a slipping clutch. However, the work turned out to be more involved than anticipated, eventually evolving into a sympathetic recommission. ✨
With the engine and gearbox removed, we took the opportunity to work through the mechanicals and tick off a number of jobs to bring the Beetle up to the standard it deserves.
The work included fitting new gearbox mounts, clutch and accelerator cables, and a new fuel tank after discovering a leak around the location of a previous repair. With the new tank fitted, it also presented the perfect opportunity to replace the fuel lines with 100% ethanol-resistant alternatives.
The pedals were seized, so they were removed, stripped down, painted, regreased and reassembled.
Alongside this, we addressed various details that needed a little extra attention, refining and correcting anything that lacked the finesse it deserved, before completing a thorough service.
