We are regularly get asked to look at vehicles customers have already purchased, so I thought I would share what I feel is a good starting point before buying any used car no matter what make.
1 – Check out the company you are buying from, use https://companycheck.co.uk/ to see how long they have been in business, do the owners keep changing business and do they have money to pay for things if they go wrong?
2 – Check the Mot history, a vehicle with regular Mot failures can show a lack of regular maintenance.
3 – Service history, if a newer vehicle ask for a print out of the online history and if the vehicle has recently been serviced before being sold, try to contact the serving garage as it is possible the owner was told to sell the car as issues were found at the service.
4 – Use https://www.carvertical.com/ to check for accident damage and finance outstanding.
We advise, doing all this before even going to see the car, also buy local so if the vehicle has an issue it is easy to take it back and not a 400 mile drive.
