Since we're no longer trading after the loss of Jane to cancer, I have moved our website to a server I have control of and - after a few hiccups - have it running again. I hope!

I am working on making it a "legacy" support site, giving access to information for all of our products.

Apart of the obvious things (such as Toucan firmware!) I want to add information on parts you might need (e.g. for Toucan cables) as well as diagrams and parts info. for some of the conversion looms we did. I will work on this over the coming months.

If there's anything you'd specifically like to see, please comment here.

Sad News

TL;DR (short version)
For personal reasons we are ceasing trading with immediate effect. Toucan's replacement (Toucan2) is about 80% complete, with a production batch in house, and I will try and find a way of making it available if at all possible.

Reasons
As some of you know, Jane won a battle with head and neck cancer in 2022.

Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with (a new) lung cancer in 2024 and although the treatment appeared successful it has metastasised to her bones and possibly brain, with a terminal prognosis given just before Christmas. Msny battles won but the war is likely lost.

Obviously, caring for her, and enjoying time together, is the #1 priority for me. This means I will not be doing any further work; so it makes most sense to wind up the company.

Toucan2
Work on the replacement of the Toucan product has been much delayed in recent years not just because of Jane's illnesses but also due to my eye problems (detached retina and a premature cataract operation needed as a result), but, finally, I had been making excellent progress until this news.

We already have stock for 90+ units and the software is around 80% complete. But I just don't have the time or inclination to pursue it now or likely ever.

The product - I think(!) - deserves to be a real success and is a worthy successor to the original Toucan: as a modern alarm/gauge unit; and ready, by design, to be offered as a full dash variant at the right time.

I hope to find a company, or individual(s), to take over the product in its entirety. If not successful in that quest, and since I doubt I'll get my product development mojo back any time soon, I will likely put the software in the public domain (it has no third-party proprietary software in it at all) and make the physical product available somehow - such as a Kickstarter with hardware as the "reward". The hardware design files could similarly be made available as an "add-on" reward...I'm pondering this already.

Jane and I would like to conclude by thanking you for your business over the last 15 years, and for friendships formed and good times had.

A brief hiatus while we relocate to Bournemouth and rework the product line and website. Back in a month or so!

The decade that keeps on giving...last week I suffered a detached retina and had emergency surgery to reattach it. I am currently essentially blind in one eye while it recovers, but I won't know for 5 or 6 weeks what the long term outcome is. It'll probably leave me with just 50% of the vision I used to have in that eye.

This means I absolutely cannot do any wiring work at the moment and we will be limited in what we can sell to the few things we have in stock until I have enough stable vision to attempt to make crimps again!!

There *will* still be a new Toucan though...just that it's delayed (again!).

Purely hypothetical of course....

If there was a display/dash available that had all the features you want but maybe the graphics or something else in the manufacturer's offering weren't quite to your liking, would you be more tempted by it if the software was "open source" meaning some suitably nerdy petrolhead, for example, could improve it?

Asking for a friend, obvs!

Jane's treatment finished 3 months ago and although it took a long time she is now feeling a LOT better. We won't know the long term prognosis until November so fingers are still crossed.

BUT...she is definitely more than well enough for us to be heading off to Cyprus for a much needed 2 week holiday this Saturday :)

Which means no orders can be dealt with until we come back, of course...and we know you'll understand!!

Now Jane's treatment is in full swing, with 2 months of daily treatment underway, we have made the decision to give up our workshop.

From the end of May I will work from home, and we have built up stock of all the popular items so will be able to supply almost everything without issue.

That said, we will not have any more Toucans until end of June because of the ever present supply issues every manufacturer is enduring (but we do have some NTK lambdas at long last!).

We will be looking to outsource manufacturing by this autumn.

Hopefully we can pretty much offer "business as usual", whilst I am also able to support Jane 100% through the next few months.

I want to let people know that Jane has been diagnosed with a neck cancer (oropharyngeal, to be exact). It is large, growing, and inoperable but, we're told, should respond very well to radio and chemo therapy.
She's In the midst of a load of appointments that pave the way to the treatment itself - which is 6 weeks of daily therapy, starting in April, at a hospital over an hour away.
For now, this means I'm in the workshop on my own as she gets too tired to be there very much, or not there at all; and, therefore, we're not able to give the level of service we have always prided ourselves for. And it will likely get worse in the coming weeks and months.
For now, this means we will not be taking on any new non-standard wiring work, or things like that, and we may cull some minority interest standard looms/sensors - it's an evolving plan as we work out how best we deal with the coming months.
Once we have more a definitive plan, or changes to announce, we'll of course let you know. In the mean time, please be understanding when I'm a bit slow to respond to any queries, don't answer the phone, or I can't do the loom work you'd been hoping for.
