Wow, another epic day on the water. Yes it was hot and yes there were so many beautiful sights to see.

But this is a challenge. Our SOC was building then disaster. A broken lock and we were going nowhere for 2 hours.

We did manage to charge the batteries up to 84% but then we had to get to Henley on Thames this evening.

And here the tortoise and hare story joins with electric boating. On reaching Henley at 9pm we had a SOC of 60%.

Much better day on the river. Beautiful Oxfordshire. Managed to catch up and we are now on schedule. Both days we have done just shy of 30 miles. Yesterday we took 1.4kW out of the battery. Today we were even. The plan is to build up the SOC to 100% by the time we get to Teddington. This is without shore charging. Had visitors today. David Johns from Cruising the Cut. He was very good company and then my in-laws!

That was a gruelling day. Stressful too. It’s the water restrictions caused by the drought. Every lock today was opened at the hour and half hour. It meant that we had to rush between locks. That said the lock keeper were lovely. We didn’t quite complete what we set out to do which meant that from Lechlade to Oxford we did 10 locks not 11. Tomorrow is catching up day. DB1 is amazing. And Sue is the best ever lock keeper helper.
