The man behind the Swift name — Charles Swift OBE. ❤️

The name Swift Car Care has a very special connection to one man: Charles Swift OBE, one of Peterborough’s longest-serving councillors.

In early 1987, when the Datoo brothers were searching for premises to start their business, Charles went far beyond simply offering advice.

After finishing his night shifts, he would personally take the brothers around Peterborough, visiting industrial units available through the

Peterborough Development Corporation until they found the right unit at on Wainman Road, Woodston, Peterborough.

Charles then went one step further, helping to negotiate a rent and rates-free period that gave the young business a vital opportunity to establish itself.

His kindness and support left such an impression on the brothers that, in February 1987, they decided to name their new business in his honour:

Swift Car Care.

Almost 40 years later, that name still sits proudly above our doors.

Charles and the Datoo family remained in regular contact throughout the decades, with a shared commitment to supporting charitable causes and the local community.

A name given in gratitude and a friendship that lasted generations. ❤️

🇬🇧 A true British icon — the Jaguar Mk2.

Produced from 1959 to 1967/68, the Mk2 is one of the most recognisable British sports saloons of the 1960s.

With its distinctive upright grille, four-headlamp design, flowing bodywork and beautiful chrome detailing, there’s no mistaking it for anything else.

Available with 2.4, 3.4 and the highly desirable 3.8-litre engines, the Mk2 combined serious performance with the practicality of a four-door saloon — earning its reputation both on the road and in saloon-car racing.

And just look at that red finish. ❤️

A proper piece of British motoring history.

It’s always good to welcome back an old friend of Swift. ❤️

We recently had a visit from Darren Watts , who was Manager at Swift Car Care from 2010–2016.

Darren was an important part of the Swift journey, and it was great to catch up and show him how both Swift Car Care and Express Autocare have continued to grow.

From celebrating our 35th anniversary together to meeting our current manager, Riz, there are plenty of memories connecting Darren to the business.

Today, Darren is passing on his automotive knowledge to the next generation as an Automotive Programme Leader.

People may move on to new chapters, but they’ll always remain part of the Swift story.

Great to see you again, Darren! 👋❤️
