A recent repair in the garage was this Audi A3 Quattro, which came to us with excessive coolant pressure issues.

Before visiting the garage, this car had undergone numerous failed repair attempts, leaving the customer unsatisfied and concerned about whether the vehicle was even repairable. The customer was an excellent communicator from the start, which significantly helped us with our diagnosis!

We found that the root cause of the excessive coolant pressure was a failed cylinder head. Not only were the cylinder head bolts lacking the correct torque, but the cylinder head itself was significantly damaged.

We found a hairline crack between two valve seats, along with a heavily corroded coolant passage that was encroaching on the firing ring seal of the head gasket. (see pictures)

A new cylinder head was supplied and fitted, along with all the necessary components, including a new timing belt kit. The car is now back on the road, driving like new! 👨🏻‍🔧

The mk7 Transit the OG l ! The van of choice for any tradesman from 2006-2014.

This van joined us for a diagnostic with an issues related to the clutch. We found the internal clutch slave cylinder had sprung a leak. And to say it was still on its original clutch almost 16 years since it left the production line is impressive!

A quick turn around and the van is back on the road again. We love working on all Ford transits not just the newer stuff but the older vans are more than welcome here.

Pure-tech 1.0 - 1.2 Piston ring replacement 👨🏻‍🔧

Piston ring wear on these engines is a super common issue!

If you own a vehicle with the 1.0 or 1.2 PureTech engine, here's what to look out for: increased oil consumption, usually followed by blue smoke emitting from the exhaust pipe. This is a strong indication you have worn piston rings.

Everything is fixable, but the longer your engine burns oil, the more knock-on effects can occur, including:
- Catalyst damage
- Lower engine compression
- Cylinder wall damage
- Loss of power

First job of 2026! Who'd have guessed it would be a wet belt replacement? 😅

This Vauxhall Crossland was in desperate need of mechanical attention 🔧.

The wet timing belt had degraded so badly that it was affecting oil pressure due to the oil pump feed/strainer blocking up with wet belt particles 🫣.

This is a super common issue on the PSA 1.2 PureTech engine. The car had only covered 40,000 miles and wasn't far from a huge engine disaster!
