🔧 MOT FAIL → REPAIR → PASS ✅

Another MOT repair job to share.

This vehicle failed its MOT due to an issue with the offside front CV joint boot. The CV joint itself was not damaged — the problem was caused by a cable tie being used by a previous repairer to secure the CV boot.

Although a cable tie may look like it is holding the boot in place, the CV boot is constantly rotating at high speed with the driveshaft and also has to flex during steering and suspension movement. A standard cable tie cannot maintain the correct and even clamping force, and eventually it had come loose, leaving the CV boot loose/insecure.

MOT failure:

❌ Offside front CV joint boot split or insecure – Major defect

We don't believe in just putting another cable tie on it and calling it a repair 😆

🔧 Removed the old cable tie
🔧 Inspected the CV boot and CV joint
🔧 Cleaned and re-greased the joint
🔧 Fitted the correct metal CV boot clamp
🔧 Used the proper tool to evenly tighten and secure the clamp
🔧 Checked the boot for correct operation during rotation and steering movement

Done properly, rather than just securing it with another cable tie and hoping for the best. 💪

Repair completed and vehicle passed its MOT ✅

又到 MOT 實戰分享。

今次架車 MOT Fail,問題其實唔係 CV joint 壞,而係 上手維修時用咗索帶固定 CV boot。

索帶表面睇落似固定到,但 CV boot 本身會隨住半軸不停高速轉動,而且 boot 仲會有屈曲、轉向嘅動作,普通索帶始終唔能夠好好保持均勻而足夠嘅夾力,結果索帶甩咗,令 CV boot 變得 loose / insecure。

MOT 判定:

❌ Offside front CV joint boot split or insecure – Major defect

我哋就唔再用索帶「頂住算數」😆

🔧 拆除舊索帶
🔧 檢查 CV boot 及 CV joint
🔧 清潔及重新處理 grease
🔧 使用正確 metal CV boot clamp
🔧 用專用工具均勻收緊,確保 boot 正確密封及固定
🔧 最後檢查高速轉動及轉向時 boot 運作正常

跟返正確方法做好,唔係求其綁返條索帶就算。 💪

修理完成後重新 MOT,PASS ✅

🚗 Ford EcoSport 1.5 Ti-VCT – Overdue Timing Belt Replacement

This 2016 Ford EcoSport 1.5 Ti-VCT (Engine Code: UEJE) had covered approximately 65,000 miles.

The vehicle was recovered to our workshop after the auxiliary drive belt snapped, causing the alternator to stop charging and eventually leaving the battery completely flat.

Fortunately, only the auxiliary belt had failed and there was no engine damage.

Although the vehicle had not yet reached 100,000 miles, it is now 10 years old, exceeding Ford's recommended replacement interval of 100,000 miles or 96 months (whichever comes first). The owner therefore chose to replace the timing belt at the same time.

Once the timing cover was removed, the old timing belt showed clear signs of ageing, with visible cracks across the belt surface. Although it had not failed yet, these cracks are a strong indication that the belt had deteriorated and replacement was the right decision.

⚠️ Timing belt replacement should be based on both mileage and age—not mileage alone. Preventive maintenance is always far less expensive than repairing a failed engine.

🚗 Ford EcoSport 1.5 Ti-VCT|Timing Belt 已超期更換

今次呢架 2016 Ford EcoSport 1.5 Ti-VCT(Engine Code: UEJE),行咗約 65,000 miles。

車主因為輔助皮帶(Auxiliary Belt)突然斷裂,導致發電機停止充電,電池耗盡,最終需要拖車返車房。

好彩,今次只係輔助皮帶斷裂,冇造成引擎損壞。

由於架車已經 10 年車齡,雖然未到 100,000 miles,但已經超過 Ford 廠方建議 Every 100,000 miles or 96 months(以先到者為準) 嘅 Timing Belt 更換週期,所以車主決定一併更換。

拆開之後,可以清楚見到舊 Timing Belt 已經開始老化,表面出現明顯裂紋。雖然仲未斷,但已經顯示皮帶老化,如果繼續使用,故障風險會愈來愈高。

⚠️ Timing Belt 唔係淨係睇里數,更要睇車齡。

定期更換,比等到故障先維修更安全、更化算。

VW Sharan – AC Compressor Replacement ❄️🔧

Another day, another air con repair 😅

Customer came in with no cold air. After inspection, we found the AC compressor had failed.

New compressor fitted, system vacuum tested and recharged with the correct amount of refrigerant.

Cold air is back again 🥶❄️

Good intentions… gone wrong. 😂🔧

The owner suspected a problem with the rear brakes, so a friend kindly stepped in to help by replacing the rear brake pads.

Unfortunately, it didn’t solve the issue… and the car ended up at our workshop.

The problem? The rear caliper piston wasn’t aligned correctly with the locating pin on the brake pad before being pushed back and reassembled. 😅

This isn’t just a small mistake—it can cause uneven braking, damage the brake components, and most importantly, compromise safety for everyone on the road.

Brakes are one of the most critical safety systems on any vehicle. If you’re not 100% sure what you’re doing, it’s always worth getting them checked by a professional.

Sometimes, trying to save money can end up costing much more. 🚗💨

好心做壞事 😂🔧

車主覺得尾迫力有問題,朋友好心「出手」幫忙,幫佢換咗尾迫力皮。😂

結果問題冇解決,最後都係要嚟我哋車房。

原來安裝時,卡鉗活塞(鮑魚)冇對準迫力皮背後個定位位,就直接裝返埋。😆😆😆

呢個真係唔係講笑!

❌ 會令迫力皮受力唔平均
❌ 有機會損壞卡鉗同迫力皮
❌ 最重要係影響制動效能,危及自己同其他道路使用者安全。

有時整車,唔係「裝得返」就等於「裝得啱」。

慳得一時,分分鐘最後要花更多時間同金錢去補救。😅
