A drop-in hub offering legal advice will be open at Long Eaton’s town hall tomorrow (Thursday 26 October) for people across the borough affected by Storm Babet.

Erewash Borough Council and Derbyshire Law Centre have organised the free session amid a huge clean-up after floods hit 500 homes.

The law centre’s experts will be available to give advice from 10am to 3pm.

Residents including those displaced by the storm can get independent guidance on dealing with worries such as housing, dealing with landlords and queries over insurance. It would be useful for people to take any relevant documents with them.

Erewash’s Deputy Leader Councillor Becca Everett, who is Lead Member for Community Engagement, said:

“We are only too aware that this is an awful time for those affected. The council is pulling out all the stops to provide help and is grateful to Derbyshire Law Centre for its assistance.”

It's time to say goodbye to Lou Walsh today 💔.
My pupils loved joining in the relays helping raise money for The Big Learner Relay for Children in Need.
I still can't believe you got us to meet in a B&Q car park 10yrs ago, to drive through Nottingham in a relay while dressed in Pudsey onesies. That mad idea turned into a National success, who would have believed it back then.

Your infectious smile and giggles kept us all going whatever the weather.
You will be deeply missed by everyone that met you xx 💔💔

It's with great sadness we have to announce the sudden loss of Lou Walsh the brain child behind the BLR children in need learner relay.
Lou was an amazing person, with so much passion it was astonishing, she helped raised thousands for this charity.
We had the pleasure of being part of these relays since day one and this year would have been the 10th year.
I know many of my pupils loved joining in these events.
Lou announced this was going to be the last year of the BLR but after some serious considerations the team have decided to cancel the event which is totally understandable.
Sending our love and thoughts to Blaine Walsh and the children xx

The DCC Labour Group has started an official petition (via DCC Petition process).

If the petition gets to 7,500 signatures in the next 63 days it guarantees a debate at the next Full Council on it and hopefully will shame the Tory administration to alter the plans for a 41% increase in the cost of school dinners for children.
