Not every Mk1 Es**rt story stayed close to home.

Decades after the Mk1 first appeared, the Es**rt name was still writing new chapters in rallying.

In 2003, Alastair Cavenagh and Carl Tundo competed together in a Ford Es**rt on the inaugural East African Safari Classic, taking on the long-distance event across Kenya and Tanzania.

A later chapter in the Mk1 story, but a memorable one.
