🔧⚠️ Vauxhall Corsa – Wet Belt Replacement & Full Service ⚠️🔧

Another Vauxhall Corsa in at Bay2 Auto Customs for a replacement wet belt and full service, carried out properly from start to finish! 👨‍🔧

With these engines, wet belt condition is something that should never be overlooked. This one has covered just 40,000 miles, yet you can clearly see the cracking and deterioration already present in the belt! 😳

We’ve seen these deteriorate at even lower mileages, with some showing issues from as early as 25,000 miles. Mileage alone isn't a guarantee of belt condition, so don't wait until it's too late!

✅ What we carried out:

🔧 Wet belt replacement

🛠️ Sump removed and oil pick-up checked for debris and belt contamination

🔩 Sump cleaned and resealed correctly

🛢️ Engine oil replaced using the correct Stellantis-specification oil

✅ New oil filter

✅ New air filter

✅ New pollen filter

✅ New spark plugs

We made sure to inspect the sump and oil pick-up before putting everything back together, helping identify any debris that could cause problems with the engine's oil supply. Once the sump was resealed, we cracked on with the belt replacement and full service.

This Ford Fiesta has been in with us for a full service and inspection.

🔧🎨 A BIT OF LEARNING IN THE BAY2 PAINT SHOP!

Our little apprentice has been back with us today, learning the ropes on both the mechanical and paint shop sides as we work towards developing him into a well-rounded multi-skilled technician! 👨‍🔧

Today, he’s been getting hands-on with paint preparation and repairs, learning the importance of doing things properly from the very beginning. 👌

🚗 Honda Civic Spoiler

Final preparation checks before primer, followed by guide coating to help identify any pinholes and surface defects after the primer has been flatted. The spoiler has been left to cure naturally rather than being rushed under a heat lamp, helping us maintain a quality finish and reduce the risk of issues further down the line.

🚙 Toyota Front Bumper

We also worked on preparing a Toyota front bumper for paint repairs. The fog lights and grilles were removed to allow proper preparation and paint coverage around the edges and difficult-to-reach areas. This helps avoid hard tape lines and poor edge coverage, which can lead to paint failure further down the line.

At Bay2, we believe the quality of the finished job comes down to the preparation and attention to detail that goes into it. We're keen to pass on those skills and make sure the next generation understands why every stage matters! 🔥

🌧️❄️ WINTER IS COMING — ARE YOUR TYRES READY? ❄️🌧️

As we head into the colder months, we're going to see more rain, colder mornings, icy roads and challenging driving conditions.

Now is the time to check your tyres before the weather catches you out! 🚗

⚠️ Worn tyres mean less grip, longer stopping distances and a greater risk of losing control, especially on wet or icy roads. Having good tyres with plenty of tread can make a real difference when it comes to keeping you and your family safe.

✅ Check your tyre tread depth
✅ Look for cracks, bulges or damage
✅ Make sure your tyres are correctly inflated
✅ Don't leave worn tyres until it's too late!

💡 The legal minimum tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, around the entire circumference. However, wet-weather performance can deteriorate well before tyres reach that limit.

We’ve had Josh down for a bit of work experience this morning, showing him the ropes and introducing him to one of the most important tools in the workshop… the sweeping brush! 🤣🧹 Every good mechanic has to start somewhere!

Meanwhile, we’ve been busy with a bit of paint prep on Pawel’s FK2 spoiler for his FN2 Type R, before moving on to painting a few bits for a Toyota Yaris that came from Copart, which we’re currently preparing for a customer. 🚗🔧

A bit of everything going on as usual at Bay2! 💪

Absolutely non-stop at Bay2 this week, and if I’m being completely honest, I’m struggling to keep on top of it all! 😂

To everyone waiting on quotes, replies or bookings, please bear with me. I promise I haven’t forgotten about you! Even with Summer helping out with the messages, bookings and admin, the workload is just crazy at the minute.

I’m doing my best to get through everything while keeping the quality of work where it needs to be, but there are only so many hours in a day! 🤣

This BMW 2 Series came into Bay2 for a full set of front and rear brake discs and pads, along with new brake wear sensors.

🔴 Rear brakes: The old pads had worn right down to the metal rivets, causing the customer to experience a noticeable grinding noise.

🔴 Front brakes: Pads were getting low, with the discs showing a significant lip and runout, causing a slight brake judder under braking.

✅ New front discs & pads
✅ New rear discs & pads
✅ New front & rear wear sensors
✅ Braking system checked and tested
✅ Road tested to confirm everything is operating correctly

A good reminder that grinding brakes shouldn't be ignored, once the friction material is gone, the damage can quickly become much more expensive.

All sorted and back on the road with a fresh set of brakes and safe, smooth braking performance. 🚗💨
