The business has recently been redeveloped into a new state-of-the-art workshop including a designated MOT test bay and tyre fitting bays. The new development also includes a brand new reception area and car parking facilities.

Why? Because even a hairline scratch will score the shaft and literally shred the internal rubber oil seal every time the shock compresses over a bump. Say goodbye to your damping and hello to a bouncy ride! 📉

Out with the old, in with the new! 🚗💨 This original turbo was completely done for. We had to wrestle the old unit out of the bay, transfer all the hardware and linkages over on the workbench, and drop the clean new upgrade onto the manifold.

Part 3: Rebuilding the Skoda Octavia after replacing the frayed timing belt and dead water pump.

Engine mounts torqued down, new auxiliary belt fitted, arch liner secured, and wheels torqued to spec. Another job wrapped up properly at West Street Garage!

Part 2: What caused this Skoda Octavia timing belt to fray?

Once we supported the engine and pulled the old belt, we found the culprit. The water pump bearing was completely shot, causing the belt to walk off-center and rub the timing cover. On top of that, someone had previously slapped a load of silicone around the pump to stop a leak, turning the belt pink!

We cleaned up the block surface, installed a proper Schaeffler water pump and belt kit, and got everything aligned and ready for rebuild.

We had this Skoda Octavia in for a standard timing belt replacement, but once we pulled the timing covers, we found a problem.
