The business has recently been redeveloped into a new state-of-the-art workshop including a designated MOT test bay and tyre fitting bays. The new development also includes a brand new reception area and car parking facilities.

The engine mount drop 🔧

On modern transverse engines like this Volvo V90 D4, you can’t just slide a timing belt on. To gain clearance, you have to support the engine from below, strip the AC pipe brackets, and remove both the upper cast arm and lower hydro-mount.

Specialist tooling in action 🔧

When replacing a timing belt on modern modular platforms like this Volvo V90, the entire engine mount has to come out. Instead of hanging top-side support bars across delicate wings and plastic scuttle trays, we use an under-body subframe support beam and scissor jack rig.

Takes the weight of the engine block safely from underneath so we can work up top with zero clutter.

Before you can even start a timing belt on modern platforms, you’ve got to strip away engine vanity covers, recessed wheel nut caps, arch liners, and giant undertrays.
