Belgian Built.Mk2 Preservation Project

Easing back in so far this week with one of the simple jobs on the Mk2 Project, the door frames.
The drain channels under the windows were rotten, as usual, so Ive assembled the M Machine parts to make new ones.
One of the doors needed a small repair along the top rail before the new channel was spotwelded in place, the other side needed a whole new top rail from M Machine.
I've finished one of the doors frames, including new drain tubes, which are manufactured in house and in stock at Wiginton Independant Iconic Spares Ltd
The other side has a repair going at the front of the frame, which I'll finish off in the morning.

The Lightest Mini In The World

Since I've made a few posts in the last week about The Sprint, the question I've been asked the most is, "What does it weigh?"

Here's the video that I made when I weighed it in road trim with 15kgs of fuel on board, 2x 11kg adjustable seats, 2 harnesses, 2 fuel tank etc.

In race trim, with a single Tillett carbon fibre race seat, 1 harness, and a 1 gallon fuel tank, it'll be considerably lighter.

Mmmmmmm, shiny.
I spent the day taking the seats out to polish inside the roof and the floor, that took ages, then gave the outside a clean. I'll polish the outside when I get to the museum tomorrow.

I ran the engine up and ran it through the gears on axle stands, then drove it for the first time in over a decade.
I think I'm going to change the Salisbury diff for a Swiftune Engineering ATB, I dont have the strength anymore.

Looking forward to taking it to the British Motor Museum

The Lightest Mini In The World

The new ultimate lightweight oil transfer pipe supplied by Ian Goldie of Cam Auto Developments, using Goodridge LTD fittings is fitted to the Swiftune Engineering oil filter housing.
Fitment is perfect, with no extra weight than is necessary.

Tomorrow, I will run the engine up, give the car a thorough clean, give it a short drive, and it'll be ready to go to British Motor Museum
