One of the worst-designed approaches to Kelly's Kitchen Roundabout is when you're coming from the Bow Brickhill side, heading either towards Fenny Stratford or the A5 North.

The lane markings are confusing:
Lane 1 becomes left turn only for the A5 South (Dunstable).

Lane 2 is marked for Fenny Stratford, Leighton Buzzard (A4146), and A5 North, but the spiral lane markings don't work well here.

Lane 3 is also for A5 North, yet it merges into the same lane as Lane 2 on the roundabout, creating unnecessary conflict and increasing the risk of side-swipe collisions.

In my opinion, if you're heading for A5 North, it's generally safer to use the right-hand lane (Lane 3). Use Lane 2 for Fenny Stratford and Leighton Buzzard (A4146) instead.
If you do need to change lanes on the roundabout, don't rush it. Check your mirrors, signal clearly, move across gradually, and be extra cautious, as this is one of those roundabouts where other drivers may not be expecting lane changes.

A quick heads-up for anyone using Kelly's Kitchen Roundabout:

If you're travelling northbound and have just passed the Fenny Stratford exit, pay attention to your lane.

Lanes 1 and 2 continue towards A5 North (Milton Keynes/Hinckley), so stay in those lanes if that's your destination.

If you're in Lane 3, be aware that it splits into three lanes, taking you towards Bedford and A5 South.

I've seen a few drivers caught out here, so hopefully this helps someone avoid a last-minute lane change. Drive safely! 🚗
