Great results in the race last weekend at anglesy 4th and 2nd for the team in a wet race 1 and an 1st and 2nd place for the team in race 2 not a bad outing for the cars first outing since the engine blew at oulton park and this will be the last race for me this year so the focus is now on some little tweaks to get abit more from the car ready for next season.

Well what can I say what a Saturday headed down to lydden hill circuit as I was offered a drive in one of our team mates cars as he unfortunately was unable to compete and we did pretty well especially having not driven the circuit in over 18 years soon got back upto pace and managed a blistering final lap in qualifying which put me in second place for race one. After an admittedly terrible start I had dropped to 4th but after 13 laps I worked my way back into 2nd but was unable to fight for the lead with only a few laps to go so finished 2nd.
Race 2 great start straight up into 1st place where i lead the race for 12 laps as my team mate pushed through the pack we was both slowly pulling away from the rest of the pack by working together I made the decision to let him pass and take the lead as he's in the fight for the championship and needs the points way more than me we came in for a team front row 1 and 2 podium finish. Great results for the team and a nice little trophy haul for the cabinet.
Many thanks to Carl Smith and Racetec Motorsport and Sean Jones for the use of his car and entry and a great drive as always from Adam Jones some great teamwork out on track to get the results we wanted.

Race report for this weekends Hyundai coupe cup final at brands hatch in short a very enjoyable race weekend Fridays testing went well there was a big setup change made on the car from how the previous owner run it which took a little time to get to where we felt the car started to have some reasonable pace but ended Friday feeling we had made good progress.

Saturday raceday
Qualifying started quite early in the day and despite the track being still a little unpredictable in places we still managed to set the same laptimes that was being produced the previous afternoon. Which saw us place 16th on the grid out of 22 cars. The qualifying session saw most of the grid qualify within 1 second between 1st and 18th place.

Race 1
Got a reasonable start managed to gain a few places through paddock hill bend with some very good battles between myself and 3 of the drivers around me swapping positions throughout the race with a few rubs and bumps along the way but all very respectful of each other and I ended the race in 11th place. Having really enjoyed the close racing I was looking forward to breaking into the top 10 in the second race.

Race 2
Got a good start of the line but was met by a wall of cars into paddock hill bend with nowhere to go entering druids I felt a knock on my rear right and immediately felt the dynamics of the car change it was no longer handling like it should so the race quickly turned into just trying to maintain grid position I also knocked my wing mirror in which I couldn't quit get pushed back out to where it needed to be so was blind on my rear right hand side. The first half of the race went very well up until a driver that I will not name that had ran out of talent in race 1 on paddock hill bend decided he was going to bounce of every car he could to help him get around the corners and recover his start from the back and I was next first contact was made by shunting into my rear bumper on the exit of Graham hill bend tearing my rear bumper from the car completely second and third contact was the result of him trying to throw his car up the inside of my car through clearways and due to the lack of grip on his line he simply used the side of my car as a buffer to help him around the corner. There was still 5 laps to go and although our car was making lots of unusual noises and there was a smell of tyre rubber the car also was not handling like it should I was still somehow managing to keep putting in consistent good laptimes quite possibly due the fact I seem to drive better angry but who knows. I finished the race in 14th feeling more like I had just been banger racing rather than circuit racing luckily on inspection of the car all damage can be repaired without too much cost but disappointed the offending driver had been allowed to get away with such reckless and more worrying dangerous driving standards which to this day is the worst I have ever seen in club racing. Talking to some of the other drivers they said they simply let him by because they didn't want there cars damaging that isn't racing in my eyes but as a guest driver for the weekend I left it at that and didn't take it any further.

Overall a very enjoyable weekend with good friends and family spoiled by one idiot in the last 5 mins of the race.

Thanks to

Carl Smith at racetec
And the rest of my team that helped out with the car over the weekend
