Transit custom today for a wet belt package and a new vacuum pump due to loosing servo assistance whilst driving.

Found after Inspection that the vacuum pump and oil pick up tube was full of belt material due to the wet timing belt/oil pump drive belt deteriorating, inturn causing the brake pedal to go hard and a loss of oil pressure.

All genuine ford parts used for the repair.

Walked into the garage thinking it’s 1998 and a pork scratching covers diagnostics, parts and labour.

£40 part.
£90 labour.
Suddenly he’s an expert because he Googled “sensor” once and had a pint in 2003.

The bit that gets me is the tone.
Talking like he’s been mugged, not quoted.
Industry standard = robbery apparently… until it’s his wage on the line.

You’re not paying for plugging a wire in, mate.
You’re paying for knowing which wire, why, and what happens if it’s wrong.

Another corsa timing chain, who would of thought?

June was a very busy month here at JDL, here is just a few jobs completed. Brakes and calipers replaced all round on this bmw e46, timing belt and waterpump on a ford kuga, diagnosis for an oil consumption issue on a 120i bmw, new duelmass flywheel and clutch kit on this vw golf and a wet timing belt on a vauxhall crossland 1.2 puretech engine.

Been a busy few weeks here at JDL, heres just a few jobs completed. New egr valve/cooler replaced on this vw transporter, new waterpump fitted to a corsa for a overheating issue, found plastic missing from pump causing poor coolant flow, stepper motor replaced on a fiat 500 instrument cluster due to incorrect display of vehicle speed and a clutch replaced on a seat leon due to wear and tear of the friction material on the clutch disc. Replacing a clutch on this peugeot 2008, have you ever seen the pressure plate split into two? Terrible racket this was making with the clutch depressed. New luk three piece clutch kit fitted and customer back up and running again.
