Customer:: I have a noise from my brakes..

After an inital inspection the brakes “looked” good, the car was a bmw with wear indicators front and back and were all intact and working. So although the brakes looked to have been serviced and kept right once I stripped them back an inner pad was found to be metal to metal, luckily the disks were good. The pad carrier had rusted over binding the pad and on the opposite side from the wear indicator so the cars computer didn’t know. Cleaned, descaled, lips removed and the carriers all serviced ment the new pads fitted were able to move freely and no noise. Much more time consuming than a standard pad change but all to often garages change pads without the additional prep work which sometimes can lead to faults like this.

Little bumper repair in the other week, Another driver scraped past the corner of this car leading to a few scraps through to the plastic. Little bit of graft and it was back looking like new. One of the most common places to get marks on your car is the corners but is easy to sort out and no need to replace bumpers etc most of the time.

Lovely clean 2013 Vauxhall Astra Sri. Nearly full years mot with lots of work carried out including servicing and brand new brake disks and brake pads both front and rear with good tyres all round.

Hands up who knows the interval for they’re engines cam belt or even know if it has one or has a chain. The vast majority of engines are connected up using a toothed drive belt so that the top of the engine turns along with the bottom so it keeps the correct clearance and doesn’t hit all the moving parts together. This belt has a change interval and if it brakes will cost you very very high repair bills or worse need a replacement engine. Some intervals are as little as every 40’000 miles and gos as far as 125’000 miles. Pictured is the belt off an engine with a 125k belt replacement guide but if you look closely you see little fractures all over the belt, now it’s not just going to brake because if these but is the start of a failure. This belt was replaced at 88’000 miles so was very lucky the customer decide to ask when his belt was due and decide to replace early. Don’t put off today what could potentially cost you an engine tomorrow.

Very nice 2011 Citroen ds3 black and white special edition 1.6 hdi which will be available at some point next week. It’s the 1.6 hdi low emissions spec car meaning it’s only £20 to tax for a year, very economical on fuel and feels very responsive to drive so has the best of all worlds. Original Citroen black alloys and roof stripes with a reverse colour scheme inside having black sports bucket seats, black head lining and dash/door panels with white gloss dash trim making it very eye catching. Vehicle had a cam belt and water pump kit fitted in December 17 at 75000 miles so isn’t due for 120’000 miles or 10 years after that date meaning it will not need to be done for quite done time. Car has also just had a brand new clutch kit fitted so it means every expend I’ve job to need done has been carried out giving peace of mind. Further details upon request. £3200 ovno.

We have been quite busy for a while but wanted to take 5 out to post this. This is the importance of winter servicing. Most people either go by the manufacture’s guide lines, or even exceed them thinking it will be ok but with our lovely British weather it’s always good to even have a mid term service or just oil service carried out over the winter. This air filter had turned to paper mush and had already started to try and in-jest itself. You may think it’s only paper but this would block up an engines air intake and leave the owner needing an engine worst case or very expensive repairs at the least.

Don’t forget as well as all your bodywork needs we do all sorts of servicing, mot and maintenance work. Here we have a little mot failure on rusted brake pipes. First picture shows the rusted original metal pipe which if pitted badly enough can and does bust with pressure applied. Second picture is a nice new brake pipe which we make ourselves out of copper so never runs the risk of rusting again and will outlast the car. Third picture is the nice new precisely made brake pipe refitted in all original mounts and placement so as not to foul any suspension parts.

A recent forklift repainted in original Toyota colours for a local company Victor Walker Fuels. Unfortunately didn’t get photos to the extent of the original condition but you can get the idea. Firstly all the grey was painted on the cab and the lower weight then the boom and forks were painted in a nice fresh coat of black before moving into the main body colour orange. This very lovely looking forklift can be seen at walkers fuels yard where you can be looked after for all your home heating oil, gas and solid fuels. Also in yard is a diesel fuel pump so you can get a fill of diesel before heading home. One of the fastest and most reliable fuel delivery’s around Lisburn and beyond.
