💰Salary Dependent on Experience, however We offer competitive pay based on experience and workmanship and this is negotiable for the right person.

⏰ Our Leek Workshop Hours are 8:30am - 5:30pm Monday to Friday (Overtime and Saturday Hours Available)

Ingenium time chains!

These chains are known for stretching and causing issues, primarily a rattle from your engine. Left untreated the chains a prone for snapping and will cause substantial damage to your engine.

Water and electricity does not mix⚡️🚿

This week we have had a convertible Evoque in that has decided it no longer wanted to be a convertible!

The part in the picture here is called the folding top module, which is responsible for coordinating the movement of the roof when you decide to fold it or unfold it.

Upon initial inspection the only fault code in the module was for the front roof latch, but after further investigation and proper diagnosis we concluded there must be an issue with the module itself. After removing and opening the module it was clear to see it had suffered with water ingress.

New module fitted and the roof is down - just in time for some rain!

Well that could be the problem!

This 3.0 v6 Range Rover Sport came in to us as a non runner, after cutting out on the customer. On arrival the recovery driver commented that the engine turns over rather fast…

Following this we removed the oil filler cap and manually turned the engine over, quickly realising bank one intake camshaft isn’t turning.

Most owners don’t realise that the 3.0 engine has two timing chains - even though it has a cambelt. The link chains drive the intake cam off of the exhaust cam.

When these chains fail it can make a mess, and unfortunately for this customer damage valves too.

If you hear your 3.0, or any engine, rattling please don’t ignore it. Get it sorted!

Prevention is better than a cure!

If you have a Land Rover with the diesel 3.0 v6, and are experiencing jerkiness when pulling away from junctions etc, you may have a sticking throttle body.

The throttle body on these engines is responsible for altering the amount of air entering the cylinders, and when these stick they cause an imbalance with the air to fuel ratio - causing this jerking.

A sticking throttle body can also cause turbo over boost conditions, putting extra strain on your turbos and when left untreated will cause premature clogging of the dpf.

If you notice something off with your car don’t let it fester, get it sorted!

🚗 The importance of servicing 🔧

Here we’ve got a very poorly primary turbo from a 4.4 sdv8, customer complained of lack of power and a funny noise 😬 No wonder!

Turbos require a high pressure oil feed to keep them lubricated and in good order, and when this is compromised it can end very dramatically! Unfortunately this particular car has received very little servicing, as we can see.

A lot of modern diesels are prone to oil dilution, caused by incomplete dpf regenerations. What this does is allow diesel to enter the engine oil, diluting the oil and lowering its viscosity. This can very quickly destroy an engine.

Don’t skip that oil and filter! Get it booked in ⬇️

Trust your nose 👃

If you have a Range Rover with the 4.4 sdv8 engine, and you can smell something off - chances are you have a leaky oil cooler.

These oil coolers are common for leaking both engine oil and coolant.

Due to the location of the cooler it is subject to constant heating and cooling, eventually causing it warp.

If you can smell something unusual (on your car!) give us a call 🚙

As you can imagine the air con machines have been getting a fair bit of use the past few weeks, especially when we see tractors!

Most cars hold around 500g of refrigerant gas, whereas this McCormick holds three times that!

🏊 Very well specced! 🏊‍♀️

We’ve had a convertible Evoque in today with two built in swimming pools! Unfortunately not factory fitted, causing a wet rear carpet and very annoying sloshing noise.

This is common on the convertibles as they have drains in each rear quarter, which block up with debris overtime - giving these symptoms.

Close call for this Discovery Sport!

Customer called us to say oil level critically low message was displayed on the dash 😬 but shortly after went away! This is typical of the piston cooling jet solenoid, as it only operates when required.

Fortunately, the car was very quickly turned off and recovered in. If it had been driven under normal operating conditions the pistons would’ve been starved of oil, and would now require an engine!

Don’t ignore your warnings, let us deal with them!

⛽️ Well that’s not good! ⛽️

Customer brought this 2014 Range Rover Sport in to ourselves for an intermittent judder. There was a stored fault code for the fuel rail pressure regulator. After testing the wiring we went and removed the pressure regulator and this is what it looked like!

On the left is the part removed from the vehicle, on the right is what it should look like. This is corrosion caused by poor quality fuel, and unfortunately for this customer this will cause further fuelling issues down the line.

Although quality fuel can cost an extra few pounds when filling up, it could save you thousands in the long run!
