Do your motorcycle panels look past their best?
If you own a motorcycle, hopefully you are enjoying riding now the better weather has been with us for a few weeks, thankfully. We usually carry out lots of repairs to motorbike panels in the wetter months, when some store their bikes away and get them ready for the summer. However, we know minor damage most often happens with riding again, which could be frustrating. As we can offer a fast turnaround on all repairs, we could get your bike back to looking its best again, so you can continue to make the most of it.
We can colour match to ensure our repairs are undetectable, or we can even colour change if you fancy something new.

Company fleet vehicles:

At Auto Brite Smart Repairs, we specialise in small to medium size repair work, to be able to offer a faster turnaround than traditional body shops, who usually carry out larger scale work, including accident damage. As we don't require parts for most of our repairs, we are never waiting for items to arrive and don't have delays that could cause any knock on effect on our workload.

As we are not a mobile SMART repair service, we also don't have the weather to contend with, leading to us needing to either cancel repairs or carry them out in less than perfect conditions.

Due to our reliability of service as well as consistent quality of repairs for over 30 years, we have been able to enjoy longstanding repeat custom from not only our local private car owners, but also many local companies and businesses with a fleet of vehicles to maintain. As we generally offer a same day or next day service, their fleet vehicles are back with them as soon as possible and with a quality repair which will mean no fines when they change their fleet at end of lease. SMART Repair training at Auto Brite Smart Repairs.

As well as providing repairs for over 30 years, we have also offered training for any of the services we offer, for around 10 years.

Some of these trainees have travelled a long way to be with us, which is always an honour. We have had 2 from Northern Ireland, 1 from Scotland and even 1 from Denmark, all spend a week in a local hotel, to train with us.

Some would say it would be foolish to pass on skills to any local trainees, as they could become future competition. I don't agree, I have trained many who now also repair in the Hampshire area and like to think there is plenty of work to go around and am always happy when I see they are doing well!

As we are an Express Bodyshop, we can carry out larger and more complex repairs than many of the mobile SMART repairers we have trained and many of them continue to refer these types of repairs to us. This benefits everyone!

In just Hampshire alone, the trainees who have come to us have included:
*A detailer who wished to add SMART repairs to his services.
*A classic car owner, who wished to learn how to carry out repairs to his present and future cars.
*A valeter at a main dealership, who was asked to increase his skills to include SMART repairs.
*An already successful mobile SMART repairer who needed some help in advancing to dent removals and repairs.
*A mobile valeter, who wished to add SMART repairs to his services.
*An owner of a body shop who had never painted but wished to learn so he could understand any issues on repairs carried out.
*2x new staff members at a local body shop, who were to replace their current repairer due to illness.
*1x SMART repair franchisee for a new member of his team.
*1x body shop prep worker who wanted to start up SMART repairs on his own.
*1x ex military, future mobile SMART repairer.
*6x reconditioning centre staff members who had already received training from another centre, but were not confident yet.

All training is carried out one to one, using the equipment and materials we trust and use in our repairs.

Would you like to see what a typical SMART repair involves?….. At least, it does when it is being carried out by us!

With over 32 years carrying out SMART repairs, as well as offering SMART repair training, we would like to think we may know SMART repairs! If you are getting quotes for repairs and are comparing our estimates with others, it may be worth remembering this.

Our page includes only some of the poor workmanship we have been asked to rectify from previous repairs, although it is most weeks we see them. They can be from Body shops, mobile repairer’s, SMART insurance or anywhere that would rather charge less just to book in work.

We use the best quality products, we trust to last.
We scan every car to ensure the best colour match possible.
We work in a clean environment and protect your car whilst it is worked on.

We ONLY return a car when we are happy with it.

Buy cheap, pay twice!

Another example of a failed repair we see very often. Headlight refurbishment has been something we have offered for many years, using a tried and tested process we know to last. There are many repairers offering this service now, but not everyone carries it out the way we do.

These headlights were refurbished a couple of years ago by someone spraying them with lacquer. Once they have visited a few jet washes or even heavy rain, they will usually peel this way, leaving them in a worse state than before.

Now we have refurbished them properly, there is no coating to fail, they will look this good, forever.

Now the fun of Christmas shopping is over and the increase of car parking related mishaps have started coming in, we are ready to start another busy year! The sprinkling of snow and slippy conditions we have had may also help fill the diary!

Ever wondered how we match the colour of your car or motorcycle?

Every vehicle has a paint code, which should allow any paint mixing scheme to be able to reproduce a specific colour. This would be fine if there was only one shade of each colour, only one paint brand and every vehicle was still the original coating from factory, with no previous resprays. With multiple different paint brands and some colours actually looking slightly different shades when comparing plastics to metal panels, this is where it becomes less simple! If a previous respray has also taken place, you would then be attempting to match that coating, in hope it was mixed correctly.

At Auto Brite, we use a paint spectrometer, which takes a scan of the paint and then compares it to a library of colours and mixes in the software. It can then advise which formula is the closest to that on the vehicle. It can then adjust the formula to make it even closer.

When scanning the panels to be repaired, it guarantees the closest match possible. This is important and helps to keep our repairs smaller than often possible.

The example in the pictures, is a 3 stage pearl white, which are usually seen as “problem colours” to paint. As you can see on the masking tape, the colour has only been applied to the upper right section of this panel. The rest of the panel has just received a coat of clear lacquer and is otherwise original.
