What an incredible 4 days at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife with our AJH Automotive Clio 172 Cup.

This trip is about far more than just driving. At AJH Automotive, we believe that getting our technicians behind the wheel on one of the world’s most demanding circuits helps develop precision, mechanical sympathy, vehicle dynamics and an even greater understanding of how cars behave at the limit. Those experiences ultimately benefit every customer who trusts us with their road car back in the workshop.

Over the weekend, Team AJH completed more than 60 laps of the Green Hell—a fantastic achievement by everyone involved.

Perhaps our biggest success? We managed to bring both the Clio and ourselves home in one piece! Around the Nürburgring, that’s never something you should take for granted! 😂

A massive thank you to Simon Pickering, Aaron Pickering, Michael Cummings and Harry Hudson for the hard work, teamwork and plenty of laughs throughout the trip. The memories made will last a lifetime.

Now it’s time to get the Clio cleaned, checked over and ready for its next adventure… because we’re already counting down the days until next year’s trip! 🏁🇩🇪

The Nordschleife, the legendary 20.8 km (12.9 mile) section of the Nürburgring in Germany’s Eifel Mountains, has been the ultimate test of driver skill, bravery, and engineering since it opened in 1927. Originally built as part of a 28.3 km circuit, the Nordschleife features 154 corners, over 300 metres of elevation change, blind crests, technical bends, and high-speed straights that have challenged the world’s greatest drivers for almost a century. Nicknamed “The Green Hell” by Jackie Stewart after his famous victory in the rain during the 1968 German Grand Prix, it remains the benchmark for performance car development and one of the most respected circuits in the world.

This year, Team AJH Automotive have the privilege of taking our Renault Clio 172 Cup race car to this iconic circuit, experiencing first-hand what makes the Nordschleife so legendary. Every lap is a test of precision, commitment, and confidence, making it an unforgettable experience and a huge milestone for our team. Do you own a VW, Audi, Seat or Skoda diesel? Did you know as well as your conventional timing belt you have a WET BELT HIDDEN BEHIND THE FRONT CRANK OIL SEAL WHICH DRIVES YOUR OIL PUMP?

We always recommend to change this belt when replacing the conventional timing belt as if this belt fails you will require a new engine and turbo.

In Volkswagen Group (VAG) vehicles with wet timing belts (also known as wet cambelts), a failed oil pump belt can lead to several issues, including engine damage and potentially a complete engine failure. These belts, which are submerged in engine oil, can degrade due to oil contamination, overheating, or simply due to age. The degradation can cause the belt to swell, delaminate, or shred, potentially leading to a loss of oil pressure and damage to the engine.

Loss of Oil Pressure: If the belt breaks or wears excessively, it can lead to a loss of oil pressure, which can cause serious engine damage.

Engine Damage: The debris from a failed belt can clog the oil pump strainer, further exacerbating the problem and potentially causing the engine to seize.

Engine Failure: In severe cases, a failed wet belt can lead to complete engine failure.
