Yesterday we welcomed the East Midlands Manufacturing Network to our Derby site for their September meeting, and to show them round our facility.
A huge thanks to Mark Goldby who facilitated the morning and led the roundtable introductions.
Richard Blackmore's presentation around the East Midlands Chamber update was really insightful, setting out where manufacturing sits in the government's growth plans and what the Chamber is pushing for ahead of the Budget.
The conversations that followed were some of the most insightful we've been part of in a while, because everyone in that room is dealing with the same pressures from a slightly different angle. What united the group was a shared view that manufacturers want practical measures they can plan around, whether that's reform of business rates, support for taking on younger workers, or reducing the cost of the energy that keeps our production floors running.
Getting business leaders in a room together to talk honestly about what would make a difference is how the region builds a case worth listening to, and it's how manufacturing across the country moves forward with it.
