The first ever black cab, the classic FX3, left our Coventry factory in 1948. Since then more than 100,000 vehicles have rolled off the production lines and our distinctive, reliable taxis can be seen on the streets of cities and towns around the world. The development of our latest model, the TX4, included more than 1,000,000 miles of specific taxi duty cycle testing and we are confident that no other taxi is as robust as (or can hold residual values as well as) the TX series. And the current London Taxi is the cleanest, most efficient and smoothest cab to drive, ever. And we haven't stopped there - The VN5 Van launched in the summer of 2020. Three variants are available – Business, City and Ultima - with a high level of standard equipment and always with the demands of the user in mind. First impressions of our e-Camper were released in June 2021, so keep an eye out on our channels for more information about that.

Today, we are pleased to confirm that LEVC’s next-generation London taxi will launch in the second half of 2027.

Purpose-built from the ground up and fully engineered to meet London’s Conditions of Fitness, the new taxi will build on everything drivers and passengers value about the current TX, while taking a significant step forward in design, innovation and technology.

Alongside today’s announcement, we’re sharing the first look at the design direction for the next model, with early sketches showing a familiar silhouette that retains the iconic character of the black cab, reimagined for the future.

This marks the beginning of a new era for LEVC — and there is much more to come.

As the teams tee off at this week's LIV Golf UK event, we're looking back to the first ever tournament held in the UK, which saw a fleet of iconic TX taxis transport players around the course.

Here we have some wonderful early concept illustrations and design sketches of our iconic Fairway, first introduced in 1989.

This iconic model was the final 4th generation evolution of the classic Austin FX4 family, representing the perfect balance of vintage British charm and functional design. It was also the first model in our line-up to integrate accessibility features as standard factory-fit equipment.

Experience an iconic 'Blue Book' run with one of London's youngest black cab drivers.

The Knowledge is renowned as one of the world's most demanding and respected vocational qualifications, requiring drivers to memorise 320 routes across the capital and thousands of streets and landmarks within a six-mile radius of Charing Cross.

Alongside working a full-time job, Connor completed The Knowledge in just 2.5 years, joining the ranks of some of the world's most knowledgeable and professional drivers.
