Diesel.

Easter is approaching. Fuel prices have hit an all time high which may result in fewer people taking to the roads in their cars/vehicles.

Make sure you check your oil and water before you set out. Also where possible avoid refuelling when you see a fuel tank in the fuel station.
Reason for this? The fuel tanks have run low. Fresh fuel being pumped into the tanks dislodge dirt which can make its way into your tank via the pump you are using.

On Saturday a distraught customer came into the garage. His car was losing power and using more fuel. He was planning a break away for the coming half term holidays. Investigating the problems identified his car badly needed servicing.

Barrie has taken the decision not to open the garage today due to the weather. However the phones will still be manned.
Please don’t travel unless you have too but if you do make sure you have blankets, hot drinks and something to eat with you.

Don’t forget to park your car away from trees.
Luckily this customer brought her car in for a service. When we opened the bonnet we found a pile of acorns, twigs, bracken and nuts. The squirel hadn’t started to chew through the wiring. You might not be so lucky.

TIPS FOR COLD WEATHER

1. If your car is frozen due to the bad weather and you have electric windows
DO NOT try to open them. The electric motor will have frozen and by trying to operate the window you may cause the mechanism to fail. Potentially the window may fall out of its track and you will not be able to close the window.🥶

2. Check that you have antifreeze in your coolant. If you are worried that you may not have antifreeze just give us a call and we can arrange to check for you. 👍

3. Keep a can of de-icer available outside of your car. You can’t de-ice your car if the de-icer is inside your vehicle. 😢
