Mr Taylor brought his car to us for its MOT after it failed due to the Power Assisted Steering (PAS) warning light being illuminated.

πŸ”§ Our technician Joel carried out a thorough investigation and found multiple fault codes relating to the left rear corner of the vehicle.

Further testing revealed there was no wheel speed data being received from the ABS reluctor ring or the wheel speed sensor.

βœ”οΈ We replaced the faulty left rear ABS reluctor ring and wheel speed sensor, carried out a full retest and road test and the warning lights stayed off.

This vehicle came to us with multiple dashboard warnings, including an Engine Control Fault and Power Assisted Steering (PAS) Unavailable. ⚠️🚘

Our technician Simon carried out some in-depth diagnostics to get to the root of the problem. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”§πŸ› οΈ

Here’s what we did:

βœ… Road tested the vehicle to confirm the faults.
πŸ’» Carried out a full diagnostic scan, revealing multiple fault codes stored in the ECU.
πŸ”„ Cleared the codes and road tested again to identify which faults returned.
⚠️ The engine management light and ABS warning quickly came back.
πŸ” Further investigation showed the recurring faults related to the offside rear wheel speed sensor and a transmission control fault.
πŸ”§ We checked the sensor and wiring for any visible damage and everything looked perfect.
πŸ“Š Using live data, we confirmed there was no signal coming from the offside rear wheel speed sensor.

Our recommendation was to replace the offside rear wheel speed sensor and wheel bearing, as the magnetic pick-up ring is built into the bearing.

Our technician, Simon, carried out a thorough investigation and found that the oil cooler seals had started to weep within the V which is a common issue on some engines.

After discussing the findings, Mr Woolhouse gave us the go-ahead to carry out the repair needed. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”§βœ…

While stripping the engine down to replace the oil cooler and seals, we also discovered a significant build-up of carbon deposits. 😲

Rather than simply ignoring, we recommended a walnut blast to remove the carbon and help prevent future performance issues. 🌰✨
It’s a messy job but then everything was then carefully reassembled and the results speak for themselves! πŸ™Œ
