Sometimes the car simply forgets its own keyβ¦ π
This Hyundai came in with a no-start fault and an immobiliser system that wasnβt behaving correctly.
We worked through the system using wiring information and live data to see exactly what the ECU was receiving from the key and immobiliser system.
The actual fault turned out to be surprisingly simple:
The vehicle had lost its key coding.
Once the key was correctly programmed back to the vehicle, normal starting was restored.
Faults like this are exactly why proper diagnostics is important. Without testing first, it would be very easy to start replacing keys, modules or even suspecting the ECU unnecessarily.
