β½π»Warm weather. World Cup. Good times. Make sure you get home safely. βοΈ
With World Cup matches, warm sunshine and plenty of people enjoying a drink in gardens, pubs and BBQs this weekend, remember that alcohol and driving never mix.
Hot weather can make the effects of alcohol even more noticeable. You may become dehydrated, feel tired more quickly and your judgement, reactions and coordination can all be affected.
If you're drinking:
π« Don't drive.
π Plan your journey home.
πΆ Walk, use public transport or arrange a designated driver.
Drink driving is one of the Fatal 5 causes of serious and fatal collisions on our roads.
Not very many drivers would consider driving under the influence of alcohol, but a single decision to drive after drinking can change lives forever. You could:
β’ Kill or seriously injure yourself, a friend or a stranger.
β’ Face arrest, a driving ban, an unlimited fine or imprisonment.
β’ Lose your job, your independence and future opportunities.
β’ Live with the consequences of that decision for the rest of your life.
Enjoy the football. Enjoy the sunshine. But if you're drinking, don't drive, even the morning after.
Drive sober. Arrive safely.
