Over time, it's typical for air conditioning refrigerant to gradually escape from your vehicle's system. Therefore, it's essential to ensure that your car's air conditioning undergoes a re-gas, ideally accompanied by an antibacterial clean, every 2 or 3 years.

On average, an air conditioning system loses about 10% of its refrigerant annually, resulting in suboptimal performance and potentially reduced fuel economy. This occurs because the compressor must exert more effort to achieve lower temperatures.

Types of Air Conditioning Refrigerant
Concerning air conditioning refrigerants, there are primarily two types: and R1234YF, with being more expensive to re-gas. The cost of re-gassing depends on the type of refrigerant gas your vehicle utilises.

Determining Your Car's Refrigerant Type
Cars manufactured post-2017 typically require R1234YF refrigerant, although its introduction began between 2014 and 2016. If you're unsure about the specific refrigerant your vehicle needs, don't hesitate to contact us for clarification.
