Please sign our petition to raise the maximum fee for an MOT test. The price of an MOT test has not risen since 2010, whereas everything else continues to rise. In line with inflation a motorcycle MOT should today be £47.10, but it it is stuck at £29.65. This means most garages loose money by carrying out MOT tests, if their hourly labour rate is more than £59.70.
The cost of carrying of MOT tests continues to rise, as business rates and energy prices increase, and there are many hidden costs
The MOT test is a valuable service that is there for the safety of road users. MOT testers are skilled workers that deserve to be paid fairly
It might seem counter intuitive to some to sign a petition to raise the fee for an MOT test, but without raising the cap many independent test stations will be forced to give up carrying out MOT tests
