A restored 1959 VW Beetle, kept as original as possible, with a handful of tasteful, well-executed upgrades.
This is a right-hand-drive South African car. The body is rust-free overall, with only a few very small age-related spots here and there — nothing structural and nothing that jumps out.; it is a properly sorted classic that starts, drives and stops as it should, while still looking and feeling like a late-1950s car.
Engine & drivetrain
Fitted with a fully overhauled 1600 single-port engine that starts on the first crank and runs very well. The motor has recently been serviced (new valve-cover gaskets, fuel filter, spark plugs and related items). It is not the original engine, so total vehicle mileage cannot be confirmed; the current unit shows roughly 20,000 km.
Brakes & safety
Front disc brakes have been fitted. The conversion is neatly executed and unobtrusive unless you know to look. An emergency battery kill switch is also installed.
Original details
The original semaphore indicators have been restored and are in working order, they simply need to be wired in.
A spare wheel is also included.
Body & condition
The car is rust-free overall. There are a few very small, age-related spots here and there — nothing structural or unsightly. A handful of minor cosmetic details could still be tidied if desired, but nothing that affects driving or presentation.
Overall this is a clean, well-sorted 1959 Beetle that drives nicely and is ready to be used and enjoyed.
