GOTBOOST INVESTIGATES: THE CASE OF THE SMOKING VIVARO!
This Vivaro rolled into Gotboost with one rather obvious problem… enough black smoke to make a chimney jealous!
Time to put our targeted diagnostic approach to work and uncover what was really going on under the bonnet. And, as our Spidey senses started tingling, we uncovered a rather DARK SECRET lurking in the exhaust system.
The vehicle had previously been mapped with a collection of so-called “deletes”, including the DPF. But dig a little deeper and we found the infamous DRILLED-THROUGH DPF!
Now, some might think drilling through a DPF is a quick and easy fix. In reality, it's a lazy bodge that can come back to bite you.
Here's the problem: DPF filter substrates are brittle. They can crack, break up and collapse internally, potentially creating a serious exhaust restriction. What started as a shortcut can turn into a much bigger headache for your engine.
