In The Detail

In 2008, car spotter Damian followed this F40 to an independent Ferrari specialist, where he met Jake. In 2014, they carried out their first detail on the car together. From that point onwards, the team at FCD has grown, and we have seen many amazing cars come through our doors. Then, 12 years later, we had the opportunity to work on what is, to us, a very important car.

For those who do not know, the F40 was painted with a very thin layer of Rosso Corsa. It was so thin, in fact, that you could see the carbon weave beneath it. Combined with the fact that it has no lacquer, this means you cannot polish it too aggressively. The goal here was to remove as many imperfections as possible in the gentlest way. Over the course of two days, we polished and coated the entire car with Gtechniq’s EXO, which has given the paint a real lustre.
