When the garage tells you your brake discs are in poor condition and recommends replacing the discs and pads as a new set of pads will be torn up in no time and wont fully contact the disc.

But Johnny down the pub says garages just want to rip you off, and he can fit you a set of pads for £30… So obviously, you listen to Johnny. 😂

Fast forward a little while and you’re back at the garage because there’s now a horrible noise when braking and the brakes “feel weird”.

Turns out the garage was right and those old discs weren’t exactly thrilled about having another set of pads slapped onto them

Brakes aren’t really the place to take shortcuts. They’re one of the most important safety systems on your car, so if we recommend replacing discs and pads, there’s usually a reason.

Your car might not know Johnny from the pub, but unfortunately, Johnny isn’t the one stopping it at 60mph.

Get your brakes checked by people who work on them every day.

DAY 4 OF THE NEW ROOF!

Day 4 went well — one side is now completely finished!

Just the other side to do today… easy right!😂

At this point, we’re trying to stay positive and pretend the end is definitely in sight! The workshop may still look like a building site, but there’s finally some proper progress to show for it.

Once it’s all finished, we’ll have a new insulated roof, no more leaks and a much warmer workshop ready for winter — so it’ll all be worth the disruption.

We’re still open and keeping the jobs moving, including vehicle servicing, AC work and tyres.

Thanks to everyone for bearing with us while the work continues!

DAY 3 OF THE NEW ROOF BEING FITTED!

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse… they came back and put even more scaffolding up out the front! 😂

The workshop is starting to look more like a building site every day,

Despite all the disruption, we’ve still managed to keep things moving and get a couple of vehicle services completed, along with an AC repair.

We’re still open and doing our best to keep things running while the work continues, so if you need vehicle servicing, AC work or tyres, give us a call.

THE ROOF WORK CONTINUES!

We thought we’d share a few before & after photos showing just how much has changed already!

The scaffolding is up inside the workshop, one ramp is completely boxed in, and we’ve also got some comparisons of the old roof and the new insulated roof that’s going on. It’s certainly going to make the workshop look very different!

It might be a bit disruptive while the work is going on, but it’s a job that really needed doing, and we’re looking forward to getting it all finished and having the workshop back to normal — but with no more leaks and a much warmer workshop ready for winter!

We’re still open for business, including:

Vehicle servicing - AC servicing - Tyres

So even though the workshop looks a little different at the moment, we’re still here and getting the jobs done!

22/09/2026

Day 2 of the new roof project is over and, if I'm honest, I’m starting to worry that this might take longer than a week! 😅 Progress seems to be moving a little slower than expected, but these things need doing — and it’ll all be worth it when it’s finished!

Despite the restricted services this week, the work still needs to be done, and we’ve had a few jobs keeping us busy.

Volvo in for investigation and repairs
This one had gone into limp mode due to a split boost hose, along with an annoying knock at low speeds due to a poor fitting top mount and a power steering issue which is still being investigated. A few things to get to the bottom of, but that’s what we’re here for!

Nissan Qashqai
In for new rear brake discs & pads which were picked up on it's recent service with us.

And a couple of AC Services for good measure!

A big thank you to all our customers for bearing with us while the roof work is going on. We’re still open for servicing, AC servicing and tyres as normal, so if you need either, give us a shout!
