Jet drives - why are they not more popular

Why do so many professional rescue boats, military craft, and high-performance tenders use jet drives?

At first glance, GRP might seem the obvious choice for a 15m (50ft) vessel.
It’s widely used, cost-effective to produce and familiar to the market. But our Dutch builder Eclipse deliberately chose a different path.
