2013 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 in the shop for a full round of steering, suspension, brake, and alignment repairs.

During our inspection, we found multiple components that needed attention to restore proper braking performance, ride quality, and handling. We replaced the front ball joints and rear shocks, then completed a full front brake service with new brake pads, rotors, and calipers.

With the hydraulic brake system opened during the repairs, we also performed a complete brake fluid flush to remove the old contaminated fluid and restore clean fluid throughout the system.

Once all mechanical repairs were completed, the Sprinter was finished off with a precision 4-wheel alignment to properly set the vehicle back within specification and help promote even tire wear, stable tracking, and predictable handling.

Sprinter vans work hard, and keeping the suspension, steering, braking, and alignment systems maintained is especially important on vehicles that regularly carry weight or spend long hours on the road.

1990 GMC K1500 Sierra SLX | Alternator Replacement

This classic GMC K1500 Sierra SLX came into the shop with a charging system concern that required replacement of the alternator.

Services Performed:

The alternator plays a critical role in keeping the vehicle’s electrical system supplied with power while the engine is running, while also maintaining the battery’s state of charge. As an alternator begins to fail, the vehicle can experience a weak or discharged battery, dim or fluctuating lights, electrical accessories operating improperly, warning lights on the dash, or eventually a complete loss of electrical power while driving.

With the replacement alternator installed, we verified that the charging system was operating correctly and supplying the proper voltage.

2020 Subaru WRX STI

This STI belongs to one of our show team members and came into the shop for a couple of important upgrades and maintenance items.

We installed a complete rear sway bar assembly to help improve rear-end stability, reduce body roll, and sharpen the vehicle’s response through corners. On a performance-focused platform like the WRX STI, keeping the suspension components in proper working order plays a big role in maintaining predictable handling both on the street and during spirited driving.

While the vehicle was in, we also replaced all four valve stems to make sure each wheel had a fresh, reliable seal and to help prevent any slow air leaks from aging components.

2006 Dodge Ram 3500 in the shop for extensive front end, steering and brake repairs.

We started by replacing the worn upper and lower ball joints along with the front outer axle and both the inner and outer tie rod ends. With multiple steering and suspension components showing wear, addressing everything together helps eliminate looseness through the front end and restores a much more solid and predictable feel behind the wheel.

The steering system was also upgraded with a RedHead steering gear along with a replacement lower steering shaft. We followed that up with a complete power steering fluid flush to remove the old fluid from the system and make sure the new steering components are operating with clean fluid.

Up front, we also replaced the shocks to improve ride control and help keep the front end planted over bumps and uneven road surfaces.

The braking system received a full overhaul as well, including new brake pads and rotors, replacement disc brake calipers and a complete brake fluid flush. Servicing the hydraulic side of the brake system at the same time helps ensure proper caliper operation, consistent pedal feel and reliable braking performance.

Once all of the steering and suspension repairs were completed, we finished the job with a precision wheel alignment. Any time this many front end components are replaced, getting the alignment back into specification is critical for proper handling, steering response and even tire wear.

This Ram came in needing attention in several different areas of the front end, and after completing the steering, suspension, brake and alignment work, the truck is back together with a much tighter and more controlled setup.

The factory air suspension system on these trucks can become increasingly expensive to maintain as components such as the air springs, compressor, valve block, sensors and air lines begin to age or fail. Converting the truck to a conventional suspension setup removes those air ride components from the equation and provides a much simpler, dependable suspension system.

For this Ram we installed a Bilstein conversion kit, giving the truck a proven conventional shock and spring setup while maintaining proper ride height and everyday drivability.

We also replaced both front control arms. Worn control arm bushings or ball joints can allow excessive movement in the front suspension, affecting steering feel, tire wear and the vehicle’s ability to maintain proper alignment angles.

Any time major suspension components are replaced or ride height is altered, a proper alignment is an important final step. Once the conversion and control arm repairs were completed, the Ram was placed on our alignment rack for a precision 4-wheel alignment to correct the suspension geometry and make sure everything was properly set before returning the truck to the road.

This classic Fox Body Mustang came into Dale’s Auto Service to have its stance and alignment properly dialed in. With these cars, getting the ride height right is about more than just appearance—it also plays an important role in how the suspension geometry works and how the vehicle feels on the road.

We completed a ride height adjustment to get the Mustang sitting exactly where it needed to be, followed by our precision 4-wheel alignment service. Once the ride height is changed, the suspension geometry changes with it, which can affect toe, camber, steering response, tire wear and overall vehicle stability.

Our alignment process ensures the wheels are properly positioned and the vehicle tracks straight, handles predictably and maintains even tire wear. Whether it’s a classic Mustang, a modified street car or a daily driver, proper alignment is an important part of getting the most out of the suspension setup.

2018 Subaru Crosstrek in the shop for a walnut blasting service.

Over time, carbon deposits can build up around the intake valves and intake ports, restricting airflow and affecting overall engine performance. Walnut blasting uses crushed walnut shell media to safely remove that buildup without damaging the internal surfaces.

We documented this one before and after so you can see exactly how much carbon was removed. The difference speaks for itself.

A proper walnut blasting service can help restore airflow, improve throttle response, smooth out idle quality, and bring back some of the efficiency that gets lost as deposits accumulate.
