Most new drivers don’t learn what their dashboard lights mean until one comes on and they have to guess.

This guide covers the lights that matter most, what each colour tells you, and whether you need to pull over or just get it checked. Save it so you’re not guessing next time! 🚗

Young Drivers of Canada is proud to support Canadian Youth Road Safety Week, October 19–25, 2026.

Through Snap for Change, people across Canada can identify a road safety issue in their community, share a solution with someone who can help create change, and submit their advocacy to Parachute.

Young voices. Bold ideas. Safer roads.

Before your road test make sure you understand right-of-way rules and when you’re expected to yield.

Knowing who should proceed first is a big part of making safe, confident decisions on the road. This includes intersections, turns, pedestrians, lane changes, merging and other everyday driving situations.

Hesitating when you have the right-of-way can be just as problematic as going when you don’t. Know the rules before test day so you can drive safely and predictably. 🚗

6 automatic fails on your road test 🚗

You can drive well for the whole test and still fail on one of these. These are the mistakes that end a road test on the spot, no warning and no second chance.

Save this before your test and let us know what other questions you have!
