We have lost our founder and a remarkable man.
CHERRY, RONALD JAMES April 28, 1944 - March 4, 2022 Beloved husband and cherished father, Ron passed away far too soon, at the age of 77, after courageously enduring an eleven-month struggle against peripheral vascular and heart disease. Ron will be forever remembered for his undeniable generosity, friendship, his unfailing capacity for patience and strength in trials, and for his brilliant vision, leadership, and successful partnerships he developed in the tire industry. Family and friends are filled with warm hearts recalling the memories of the Boulevard Club years and Ron's love for tennis and curling, his journey towards new challenges on the golf course at Weston, and the most recent chapter of enjoying life in semi-retirement as a snowbird in Naples, Florida. Ron's career in the tire industry has left a legacy admired by countless employees, suppliers, and partners. Starting as a sales representative at Crowe Tire and rising within a short time to Vice President, Ron worked tirelessly through the years, surpassing targets, delivering key new initiatives, and forming impressive alliances and lasting friendships along the way. His professional advancement continued to Astro Tire and led him to co-found Tiremaster in 1991, ultimately reaching the pinnacle of his career by creating an industry leading, multi-faceted company that continues to thrive today. An active member in the community and industry, Ron was a supporting member of the Toronto Transportation Club, Ontario Trucking Association, and former President of the Toronto Trucking Association, generously offering to share his time, energy, and leadership. Ron's loss will be deeply felt by the beloved employees of the Tiremaster family who will miss their visionary, leader, and mentor but will no doubt carry on fulfilling the values and work ethic set by their exemplary co-founder. Closest of all to Ron's heart, his wife of 53 years, Marge, his children, Tom and Andrea, son-in-law, Kevin, daughter-in-law, Marie, and grandchildren, Ryan, Cole, Justin and Taya, will forever cherish every fun-filled moment of intense conversation and hearty laughter. Whether enjoying family BBQs or watching games of baseball, hockey, golf and tennis, Ron was always at the center of every activity and good times. Whether taking on a challenging new golf course with great excitement, playing his beloved accordion while the family sang and danced, or looking forward to the anticipation of an intense euchre game, Ron never failed to show his warmth, sense of humor, and gratitude. Ron's generous and loving soul will live forever in the memories and hearts of all who were a part of his life. Even in the last challenging months of failing health, Ron inspired so many with his patience, gentle smile, an observation commented on time and again by the devoted team who cared for him. In his final days of suffering, Ron made the effort to show gratitude and appreciation towards his caregivers. Ron was truly a remarkable man who leaves behind a brilliant legacy, we will all be forever grateful to have had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
