Our customer brought in his R33, needing to finish this project. We replaces the rad and fan. Replaced the exhaust manifold, repaired down pipe replaced the timing belt and thermostat, repaired electrical connections, replaced intercooler piping with proper sized tubing, just to name a few of the things we did. Then topped it all off with a few runs on the Dyno. #localbusiness #supportlocal #nissanskyline #skyline #gtr #nissan #r34 #nismo #r32 #jdm #r33 #r35 #dynotune #dyno #dynotest #carsofinstagram #dynotuning #turbo #jdmlifestyle #carporn #tuning #jdmgram #remap #boosted
2 step on factory ecu on a mark 4 golf ... yes it is possible ! This can also be added into a tune with different turbo , injectors , or any combo imaginable. We have the hardware to custom tune most any VAG vehicle in house . #780tuners #albertavw #bangbangbang #mk4golf #18t #letsgo @mk4.fox

Our latest project a 2016 Canyon with a 2.8L Diesel. Let’s start from scratch read the computer and overcome all the obstacles that have been placed in our way. Bricked an ECU and spent hours disassembling code however the results were so worth it dyno pictures to follow. First things first let’s unplug all the sensors and try and make it run well after two weeks we actually accomplished that now lets completely remove the DPF and shut off the EGR. Now that this is working let’s remove that nasty DEF fluid. Ahh no more 160 Kms to we shut down the truck. Well onto the dyno I am happy 100 ft/lbs at the wheel gain and 40 whp plus mileage . Enjoy the dyno video in the middle of the tuning process. Then we tuned the transmission to make that torque work in the right spot. No coal just power. #canyon #dieseltuning #albertatuned #2.8diesel #duramax. #dieseltrucks #canyondiesel #e98tuned #dpfdelete #egrdelete #coalroller #gmcdiesel #gmc
This weeks special tune was brought to you by the letters V and W and sponsored by TDI. We brought in Tims 2006 VW Jetta with the 1.9L TDI Diesel. Now previously Tim had made his own intake, exhaust and EGR delete and had that annoying dash light. Well wouldn’t you know it our German friends left a crapton of power and torque in this little car. This car started out at 95 whp and 190 ft/lbs peak. With our TDI tune this miled out little car put down an impressive 136 and 241 Tq. (Since the picture now 141-245) peak. What is even more impressive was the tq under the curve in some areas we r making 80 ft/lbs more than stock. See the below dyno sheet. Tim is reporting back a nice gain in mileage when he is not putting it down. Please note that the typical diesel soot is not even present. For more information drop us a line at [email protected] or pm us here. You can still call as well 403-346-7960. Be sure to ask us about our Winter-Spring sale on TDI tunes.
So it’s on to our next tuning project. For the last couple weeks we have been collecting ecu roms and compiling them for our next project. Going back in time mainly because these 3.0 CRD Jeeps are so popular. The biggest problem with these Mercedes based Dodge vehicles Jeep Grand Cherokee and Sprinter are swirl valve and failed DPF (diesel particulate filters). These issues can cost thousands of dollars. There are simple solutions to the swirl valve but these ,contrary to belief reduce the output power massively dyno charts to follow. By disabling the sensors with resistor tricks the VNT control of the turbo shuts down. We found it took some unique programming to keep the low end power. Applying what we have learned in our ECO diesel program we pursued this problem and came up with our own unique solution. Keeping the EGT low adding torque and hp. Researching the auto trans showed a maximum of 550 NM before it went bang. So we used the internal torque controls to keep this at 500 NM. This netted us over 80 Ft/lbs gain in some areas. This is a huge win for the 3.0 CRD owners more mileage more torque more horsepower and avoiding very expensive repairs. Lightspeed is bringing you unique innovative solutions. #3.0CRD #Jeep #grandcherokee #diesel #DPF delete #EGRdelete #dieseltuning #Sprinter.

Eco Diesel Tuning!
Someone said Ram Hemi which by the way we do, but this is the Ram Eco Diesel. This baby diesel is fun and the results were very good. Mods are a DPF delete and a custom Lightspeed tune. Truck even has the stock air box. Netting a nice 270 whp and 540 tq at the WHEELS. Just to put this into perspective , the stock truck is 240 hp and 420 tq at the crank. So a huge jump as well as 2L/100km better mileage ,and no need for DEF fluid. There are very few tuning options for these engines... the ones on the market dont make much power , and they dont address thinkgs like proper injection timing or torque management... they are simply a fooler box with sub-par results. Nice fun tune without a ton of smoke ! We have now completed our EGR delete kit for the Ram 1500 as well. As of last week we are officially tuning he JEEP Grand Cherokee ECODIESEL as well.
Since we are on the subject of mustangs , here is one we have at the shop right now. It just goes to show you how far technology has come in the last few years.
This super clean 93 foxbody came in originally for tuning. We found a pretty wicked intake manifold leak and it needed a new upper manifold gasket. Which was a pain.... because of the supercharger that was in the way. So, after we did it , the customer wanted a Baseline to see what the car made , the way he bought it.
347 stroker, Kenne Bell NON intercooler supercharger. 7 psi pulley, headers , etc etc . Custom tune from somewhere... unsure where, but necessary for the stroker.
284 whp / 368 wtq. Thats about it.
We are in discussion for Meth, smaller pulley and a re-tune. :)
Well the 2003 -2004 SVT Cobra (Terminator Car) almost bankrupted the SVT division with overrun engineering costs. However these cars were amazing. This one finishes off at 590whp and a crapton of torque. These cars just sound amazing.
Ok you saw the Dyno sheets now the video. Yea we are bragging a bit but heh when you make 650 awhp on 94 octane and 4 cyl lets brag a bit. In house built 4b11T Lightspeed designed pistons, Molnar technology rods, Lightspeed CNC head completely blueprinted and balanced here. Doesn't look exceptionally fancy not much powder coating chrome etc just raw power. Might have made some more but we ran out of sensor. Next time. This EVOX is to be watched out for.
Reason why we do PreDyno Inspections. These header flanges leak. BAD. Having the Wideband installed after these leaks would screw up our readings, and our calibration. We take what we do seriously. So we want to make sure that before you spend your hard earned cash on a dyno tune.... we take the time to make sure everything is good to go. Its a critical step that we simply need to do. Yes sometimes it can be a bit pricey. But doing a leakdown and smoke test can determine issues before they become a catastrophic failure later.
Street Trim Supra 10.82 quarter mile Emtron ECU
So happy we went 10.82 in the 1/4 the other night with a street car. Lightspeed built this motor 10 years ago and have watched the transformation of this car through the second owner till now. This is a true street car not a stripped out race car with lights that is called a street car. The car is a full interior 1994 Toyota Supra including the heated power seats, working AC, cruise control and on any given weekend might travel 800-1000 kms. It ran on 94 Octane pump gas with water meth - when we say pump not E85 because well it isn't pump around here. It is running a set of drag street tires. The Emtron KV8 is the brains behind this car and we incorporated the new traction control and when you here this monster chirp the tires through each gear you can really understand how well this monster is planting those tires. Each chirp is followed by the computer figuring out just how much traction is available and delivers the power needed to just allow a little bit of slip but not enough to stop the momentum of the car moving forward. The incredibly fast ECU Dual 100 MHz processor (most ECU are nothing more than 40 MHZ) has so much power as to precisely deliver the exact boost per gear per RPM based on air temp and an estimated charge temperature that the power delivery is very flat and not peaky. The launch control allowed us to dial in the launch without too much wheel spin as the 1.78 60 foot indicated ( remember this is street tires not racing slicks)
Just another day of old muscle at Lightspeed. Just a little over 715 ft/lbs when it left.
Heres some video , and a dyno sheet for the FR-S / BR-Z turbo kit we sell. Made by AVO , This is a super high quality setup that looks OEM , keeps the turbo down low, and the stage 1 is used with factory exhaust and intake.
This car has the AVO Exhaust and midpipe... and honestly is the best sounding exhaust for a Boxer engine ever.
Still keeping the factory intake , sensors, etc... allows this car to be serviced by any dealership or automotive shop; a very important requirement since the client and his wife use this car for road trips , and will be touring the Pacific Coast. Tuned for 91 oct allows it to be filled up anywhere , and with our custom tuning via ECUtek, we make sure that there is plenty of safety protocol in the case where a poor batch of fuel is picked up in a small town. ( which happened to me in Mesquite , Nevada ... and that was hell )
Dyno Sheet in Comments.
Finshed up a RSX Road Race car with a Full Race EFR Twin Scroll... 345 whp @ 11 psi.
Stock engine, and used both as a track car and daily summer so we took that into consideration with the Tuning.
Used Hondata KPRO
Interesting tune we had here. We had a client approach us about the STI he had. His question was " can you make more power with my current setup ? "
Always up for a challenge, we took a look at the car , the mods, and a plan of attack for what we were to do.
As a beautiful example of an 06 STI, we were pretty excited to get a chance to work on it.
The car was built and tuned at another shop few years back, so our first priority was a full mechanical inspection and leak down. The car also had a Aquamist Meth Injection system, so we wanted to make sure it was in good operation as well.
So we ended up replacing
- Plugs
- Front O2 sensor
- Tial External Wastegate
- Cleaning the Airfilter
- New 3 port boost controller
- Clean meth port
- Repaired a leak in the Meth line
- Replace the HKS BOV with a GFB
Now we were ready to go !
We did our baseline. 365 whp / 395 wtq @ 24 psi .
Not too shabby.
We started working away on the tuning. It was a tough car to do. And it took a lot of dyno time to sort out. But the end result was worth it.
395 whp / 415 wtq @ 24 psi.
The power was cleaner, smoother , and the car was faster. Everything we wanted to achieve . We have a dyno sheet attached in the comments.
As much as everyone wants to see the numbers , the power under the curve is the real story. It translates into a very wonderful car to enjoy.
Here is a great video of that RB powered drift car.
Tuned a GTR today with a HalTech ECU !!
Made powerRrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
EMtron KV8 controlling this Datsun 510 with a SR20DET swap.
350 whp @18 psi and 2100 lbs ?! Just Imagine .
Load Cell and Full throttle calibration complete , now we can polish up the drivability and a host of other options before detailing the car are returning it to the customer.
We used 2 fully separate knock detection systems with this car. A Plex Knock Monitor and the Knock Studio in the EMtron. This way we are 100 % able to set up individual cyl knock and timing calibrations.
OK so..... Cam and Tony didn't do so good at the last weekends Rally, but the car held together and we finished in our underdog car. However, Lightspeed has had some VERY impressive finish results in the last while, we just haven't been bragging about them, that's all. So here we go. These are either cars we have tuned, or built the engine for, or tuned AND built the engine. These results were in Subaru's:
Cochrane 2015
3rd overall 4wd
4th overall 4wd
2nd in Production 4wd
We also found out after talking to a couple of our competitors, that a Lightspeed Tuned car in 2013 took 2nd Nationally in Production 4wd and that one of our cars now has 21 Podium finishes on one of our engines!!! Now we are bragging.:)
Congrats to Adam, Stu, Borris and Josh
Enjoy the video compilation Tony put together from all the clips given to us from other competitors and our fans from 2015 Cochrane Rally.
Setting up the knock studio on the Emtron for individual cylinder control , as well as thresholds and filters on a Supra.
Conservative low boost break in tune.
