Being raised in Nelson and having years of auto repair experience under his belt, Maurice was very aware of the automotive needs of Kootenay residents. e'. He went out on a limb and turned his gas station into one of the most revered car dealerships in the area. Many changes have been made since its humble beginnings as a two-bay service station, in 2002 the dealership went through major renovations making it now one of the most technologically advanced auto dealerships in the Kootenays. Its state of the art service facility houses five fully equipped service bays and offers a wide range of services from simple oil changes to major mechanical repairs, as well as auto detailing and tire sales. The four-car showroom features a relaxing customer lounge with all the amenities including an espresso machine and TV. Nelson Toyota's staff members take pride in achieving the same standards of automotive excellence established by Maurice forty years ago.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved friend and colleague, Drew Shacker. Drew sadly passed away on January 6, 2026, of liver metastasis from uveal melanoma at the Trail Hospital.
Drew leaves behind his14-year-old son, 11-year-old daughter and partner of 20 years, Erin Ostrom.

Drew Shacker, of Nelson BC, born Andrew Morie Shacker on August 25, 1966, sadly passed away on January 6, 2026, of liver metastasis from uveal melanoma at the Trail Hospital.
