The conversation > Yesterday's notable appearance goes to a brand new CLS 53 AMG white on red and highly optioned. Naturally also highly "carbonated " front fascia ,mirrors and the interrior. I found it interesting the front Mercedes-Benz logo has been replaced with the AMG plaque which is a new thing to me. The other pictures are for a 2026 M4 which became a victim of colder than optimal road and tire surface. This cars are incredibly fast therefore they need a massive amount of respect from their drivers. There is no driver aid can overcome the insufficient lack of traction with a track " weapon " when taken to their elevated performance.
Since summer performance tires are optimized to deliver their maximum adhesion only if those criterias are met ,in colder than average temperatures as of late will reduce their performance by a huge margin. Any questions how may we help?

Tech talk > 2012 Mercedes-Benz C300 4matic heavy klicking noise at front. The normal wear and tear on a front axle shaft left front in particularly, making a loud noise especially in turn under load . Naturally on better cars the two front axles are equal length, to achieve that Mercedes uses a stub axle to extend from the front differential . This stub axle is attached to the differential with a ball bearing and a circlip to be secured safely. The problem is this stub axle over decades of winter corrosion gets chemically fused to the axle shaft in a very confined space. There is no amount of heat or shock will separate this two from each other ,therefore you have to come up with a solution to save the stub axle to be reused with the replacement new axle shaft. I developed a technic where I sacrifice the old worn axle via cutting off at the end and slicing the sleeve at 3 places to preserve the spline on the stub axle shaft . Once it's cut deep enough with a chop saw I can apply an air chisel and spread the cut sleeve to be able to remove the stub axle shaft ,I also replace the offten worn hanger bearing and clean the corrosion and reinstall the assembly into the tight space and all is taken care without damaging anything in the process. Any questions how may we help?

Tech talk > 2019 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS >996 twin turbo in for yearly regular maintenance at 17560 kms . No that's not a mistake that is the actual mileage and she has a coolant leak . A slight dripping coolant leak from a cross over pipe which is plastic. Now I'm not an engineer, I'm just an old mechanic at the bench since 1976.
I don't understand the thinking the rationale behind the plastic thing on a $ 350 000 performance car . I have to say I do appreciate a high performance automobile and have nothing against Porsche or any other manufacturer but this is just dumb . They used to build tough no non sense reliable automobiles, now it's all flash and looks and crazy horsepower. Naturally no owner will know their ultra high performance automobile has Lego plastics scattered all over on their hot high output twin turbo engines, notwithstanding the plastic oil pan . When you pay a fortune you would think you get the best material and workmanship when you put your faith in their engineering department. After all the German engineering is the best there is ?! You make your own conclusion. Any questions how may we help? #996 #911

Tech talk > 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK 350 4 matic steady cylinder misfire. 1st time client and relatively new owner to the vehicle 162834 kms and while investigating the misfire the spark plug revealed a deeper problem. Appears to be this plugs were never replaced and the center porcelain insulation broke which ,dropped into the combustion chamber and damaged the cylinder wall.
There is also some excessive blow by in the air box. The temporary fix was to replace the plugs and one coil but this thing is doomed unfortunately due to lack of maintenance. Then there is the 2017 Q7 which came on a tow truck due to severe misfire ,closer inspection revealed a chunk of valve is missing from cylinder #5 ,this is not a total surprise as she served the owner very well at 354528 kms .
Unfortunately the good old bird is done , the engine repair and or replacement will exceed the value of the truck at the end of the day ,tome to say goodbyeto the faithful .
Two engines in one day ,side by side is unique but not uncommon unfortunately. Any questions how may we help?

The conversation > Do you like Porsches 👍? They make cool ,fast cars right?! Then again the cost of repairs and maintenance and or occasional replacement cost should not surprise you ,correct?! Then here is a kicker for you ,2017 Cayenne S front headlight cost is $ 10 547.00 each before installation and taxes and so forth. I have been working on cars since 1976 ,licensed in 2 continents, but I used to recall headlight bulbs at $ 15 .00 each or back in the 1980 the old sealed beams at $ 35.00 or so ,then how did we end up at this prices ?
My questions is where does a manufacturer gets their prices , from organized crime syndicate or the maffia?!
I'm just curious that's all ,since this thing is all plastic and priced like a used car ,each !
Where did common sense 🤔 disappear?
People willing to pluck down a small fortune to obtain this ultra expensive cars and nobody ever ask a question, what will it take to keep it on the road , say a grand + for a single replacement key ! Perhaps maybe it's just me , maybe something wrong with me . Any questions how may I help?

Tech talk > 2018 X5 Diesel overheated and when it runs it looks like a 007 car in escape mode 😳. There is fortunately an extended warranty for this things due to EGR cooler internal failure. The EGR cooler cracks between the cooling fins and starts dumping coolant into the intake manifold.
There is one interesting fact you need to remember if this happens to your Diesel BMW, it's a relatively common but serious problem. The glycol ( coolant) is usually half of water half of pure glycol. There is a chemistry problem with the carbon build up in the intake manifold soaked in glycol it makes a potentially flammable mixture . Once water content evaporates from the carbon the intake can catch on fire and it's like a chimney fire, it will not stop until there is substantial airflow to feed it ! I currently have a another Diesel X3 with the 4 cylinder version which had the engine replaced due to the engine intake fire! Any questions how may we help? #
