One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is whether or not the Veemo SE is equipped with doors. Most of this is driven by photos of the previous iterations of Veemo being found on the internet. We all know that once something is posted online; it's there to stay. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this legacy content. That said we can explain how we got from the older fully enclosed Veemo to the new semi-enclosed Veemo SE.

The Veemo SE is a result of nearly seven years of design refinement. The original Veemo had some benefits, but it was heavy, prone to fogging and ultimately not bike lane friendly. The new Veemo SE has much better internal airflow because it is only semi-enclosed. This also allows for much higher levels of visibility and usability in municipal bike lanes along with excellent protection from the elements. The Veemo SE is also substantially lighter which improves range estimates with the Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit as well as improves rider experience when tackling steeper grades.

Did you know that the Veemo SE was designed to both help reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and help reduce urban congestion? The Veemo SE is a three-wheeled electric assist enclosed bicycle that is designed to provide the weather protection of a car but with the ease of urban mobility afforded by a bicycle. The Bosch electric assist battery and motor platform provide the Veemo rider with a range of +/- 73 km / 43 miles (pending grade & level of pedal assist) with a max speed of 32 km/h / 20 mph (Canada & USA) and 25 km/h / 16 mph in the E.U.

The Veemo SE allows the user to personally drastically reduce their personal greenhouse gas emissions to effect of 19 pounds of CO2 per gallon of gas saved. If a fraction of car trips were removed by users choosing to Veemo to work rather than drive their personal car, a dramatic amount of greenhouse gas emissions can be stopped from entering the atmosphere.

Combined with the Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit, the Enviolo rear hub provides stepless shifting to Veemo riders. Through endurance testing we also found that the Enviolo rear hub allowed us to effortlessly change gears in both, automatic and manual modes, under full load. With near silent operation the Enviolo system is low maintenance, long-lasting, and works seamlessly with the Veemo belt drive and Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit. The Enviolo hub also requires little to no maintenance and has a long service life for an extended product lifetime. The hub also offers a paired mobile application to allow users to change between full automatic and manual shifting.

We are frequently asked what motor and battery system is at the core of the Veemo SE. All Veemo’s will come equipped with Bosch motors and battery systems. This brings Veemo into the Bosch global help centre platform which will be integrated with Veemo’s customer service desk to assure world class customer and warranty support.

Through our endurance testing cycles we decided to move forward with the Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit. We found that the 250W Bosch drive unit outperformed other motors we tested, such as the 500W Bafang mid-drive, in speed and hill climbing capabilities. It was also much quieter and applied power in a smoother manner, which made riding the Veemo much more enjoyable.

The Bosch Performance Line CX is the benchmark among drive units. It is compact, lightweight, extremely powerful and built from high-quality materials. The Bosch system detects the input from the user pedalling and instantly applies the e-assist. The Bosch system also offers a paired mobile application with many feature rich plug and play add ons that will add to the end user experience.
