The principal (Steven Lacey) has raced various cars over the last 20+ years, including Sports Sedans, PRB, Aussie Race Cars and Improved production.

In the seat this weekend at the Hi Tech Super Series at Sydney Motorsport Park as driver B, supporting Geoff Taunton.

New car to get my head around, with ABS. So far the track’s been either wet or greasy, so looking forward to a dry run this afternoon and tonight to try out the extra braking.

Geoff qualified 2nd and I qualified 5th in our respective groups. Geoff finished 2nd in his night race last night. We started 4th and finished 6th this morning in the 50 min enduro, which wasn’t bad given we dropped to 12th after an off track excursion to avoid another car. Second 50 min enduro later this afternoon and then my sprint race under lights.

Car looked great under lights last night. It also ran the fastest lap time in Races 2 & 3 and was just 0.08 of a second away in Race 1.

Qualified 5th. I got caught in traffic and the session was ended early due to another competitor crashing heavily.

Moved up to 2nd in Race 1.

At the start of Race 2, i had a “ran out of talent” moment and spun in front of the entire field at Turn 2. Lucky not to get hit. Great coverage for the sponsors. Plenty of “you can’t park there” comments. Finished 20th. Cold tyres and a heavy right foot.

Started 20th and finished 5th in Race 3. Not the plan, but still valuable points in both the State and National Championships and plenty of fun moving through the field.

Great weekend at Round 1 of the National Sports Sedan Series at Winton. It was also Round 2 of the NSW Sports Sedan Championship. Finished 2nd overall in both points scores after finishing 2nd, 3rd and 2nd respectively in Races 1-3, following a Pole Position in qualifying.

The solid result leaves us in outright first place in the NSW Championship.

Our Pole Position was short lived in Race 1, following an issue with the Race Start lights. What was expected to be an abandoned start, given no lights or flags to indicate the start, turned out to be a start and we dropped 3 spots after lifting off. Managed to get back to P2 during the race, so still on the front row for Race 2 in the morning.

Great first day at Winton in the Lederer Machine, for the joint VIC, NSW and National Round. The Marc Cars Aust GT SS was on song straight out of the truck and ran solidly all day. Huge thanks to Geoff & Sam who are crewing this weekend.

Tomorrow is Qualifying and Race 1, the latter will be televised on Blendline TV. Check in with them for the livestream link.
