If you ever wonder why some shops charge more for cam packages , it’s not because some shops like to rip people off. You’re paying for a better job, there are multiple items that should be upgraded when doing a cam upgrade and they all vary around the camshaft selected . A $5000 cam package isn’t the same as a $8000 cam package and shouldn’t be compared . Ask what’s included for the price you’re getting.

We had a “ cheap” cam package car come in to diagnose a rattling issue after driving it home from the workshop that done the work ,what a mess it was .
Rocker installed upside down leaving a trail of damage behind.

-Bent pushrods - installation error
-Failed trunion upgrade - installation error
-Damaged rocker and guide plate - installation error
-Damaged lifter - result of parts installed incorrectly

Do it once and do it right is all we can say.

Update on ALLPSI for those that are following along.
Pulled engine out yesterday and stripped to find many issues, too many to list , in short was a hand gr***de with the pin already pulled….

Tore the rest of the car down today , many more questionable things , to my surprise the wiring was not half bad, being that it already had a haltech installed I wasn’t looking forward to that although it’s not overly bad and a few minor repairs and changes to do , no biggie in this area.

Gearbox is back off to be upgraded to our meet our requirements.

The “new” diff is out , stripped does have a trutrack , gear set looks like it’s seen better days so that will be off to be rebuilt and a ratio change to something more suitable for this combo.

Monday we will be rectifying the engine bay damage , repairing the strut tower , then off to have the engine bay painted back to factory to present a oem engine bay once again ( of course we will be doing a few little tweaks to suite the new build )

Engine is currently getting express machined so we will have that back within the Fortnite speced to our ems1400 engine combo , then we can assemble it and the rest of the alibaba internals will be given to the local scrappy.

Whilst we wait on machining we will be tackling the fuel system and bringing it back to a modern design that’s not a big fuel heater ( if you own a modern ve/vf don’t put a surge tank with 3 pumps in it 🤦) then changing and altering the haltech wiring and allocations to a better lay out , safety sensors should never be wired to a dash and be reliant on canbus . It’s simply not quick enough to work as it should .

A few months ago we had Renae’s ve come in for a diagnoses on the cars condition. After a thorough check over we found multiple issues and sat down to go through a game plan .

“ reliable and fast enough to stir the boys up” was the instructions.

We opted for one of our boost 6l engine combos , a custom twin plate Npc clutch, one of our 1200hp flex fuel systems , swapped out the manual box to a vf low km box , modified the exhaust system , fixed numerous little issues and then sent it off for Tyson at Autotech Engineering to work his fingers with the tune .

Making 510kw on 98 and 630kw on e85 on only 14psi it’s ticked both the boxes of reliable and enough power to stir the boys up and it drives amazing.

Time for Renae to enjoy it and have some fun
