The little jobs are often the ones that take the most thought.

This customer wanted an aftermarket horn fitted, but didn't want to lose the factory horn. Instead, the new horn was wired to its own switch, giving them the option to use either one when needed.

I also fabricated a custom steel mounting bracket to suit the installation, so everything bolts up securely and looks like it belongs there. The wiring was completed with a dedicated relay, fused battery supply and proper cable protection to keep it reliable for years to come.

Every vehicle is different, and sometimes an off-the-shelf solution just isn't the right one. That's where a bit of custom fabrication and quality wiring makes all the difference. πŸ”§βš‘

This van has now been fitted with a fully automatic electric side step, making it much easier and safer to get in and out every day.

The job involved more than just bolting the step underneath. It required custom mounting, routing and protecting the wiring, installing relays and control circuitry, and integrating it so the step extends automatically when the sliding door opens and retracts again when it's closed.
Taking the time to wire it properly means a reliable installation that looks factory and will stand up to everyday use.

This is one of those weeks that reminds me what it's all about.

Before we head out riding, the bikes don't just magically end up ready to go. My son knows the deal... if you want to ride it, you service it.

Oil change, chain adjustment, wheel checks and a good once-over before we load them up. Not because he has to become a mechanic,( I really hope he doesnt ) but because I want him to understand that looking after your equipment means it'll look after you.

The best part? Watching him grow more confident with the tools and on the bike every time.

It's the same philosophy I bring to PWR Car & Commercial. Whether it's a dirt bike

You honestly couldn't make this up...

I don't want to sound like a broken record or spend my time bad-mouthing another business. I'm simply sharing what I find because I think it's important for people to see the standard of work they're paying for.

This customer had the front shock absorbers replaced back in December after complaining of a knocking noise.

The knocking never really went away.

After inspecting it, the problem was obvious. The original top strut mounts had been reused, they had the original mercedes part number on them. The new shock absorbers now have to come back out so the top mounts can finally be replaced.

Replacing shock absorbers without replacing worn top mounts is a false economy. The labour to access them has already been done, so reusing worn components can end up costing the customer far more when the job has to be done again.

I'm not interested in putting other businesses down. I am interested in helping people make informed decisions about who works on their vehicle.

Doing the job properly the first time is almost always the cheapest option in the long run.

One of my customers asked me to carry out a pre-purchase inspection on this 2011 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter before buying it.

The surprising part? It had been serviced by a well-known "van specialist" in Perth less than 500 km earlier.

Despite the recent service, here's what I found:

❌ Rear differential filled with the wrong oil. ❌ Engine serviced with mineral oil instead of the correct Mercedes-approved oil, significantly reducing the service interval.
❌ Oil leak still present from the rocker cover area.(or not washed down correctly)
❌ Air conditioning compressor pulley cracked.-when it fails completely it will be a breakdown.
❌ Failed centre tailshaft bearing.
❌ Brake fluid tested at 2.2% moisture and due for replacement.
❌ Poor-quality repair to a fuel line.
❌ Missing turbo support bracket bolt.
❌️ Wrong diagnosis on the SRS fault code.

See in the comments for more 😬

This is the second vehicle in the last two months that I've inspected after a service done by the same business.

A fresh service sticker or invoice doesn't guarantee the vehicle has been serviced correctly.

Whether you're booking your vehicle in for servicing or buying a used one, do your homework on who you're trusting with it.

Spending a little on a quality inspection can save you thousands in repairs later.

394,732 km... I'd say this HiAce is only just run in! πŸ‘Œ

This one came in for a routine service and some preventative maintenance, proving that regular servicing really does pay off. With nearly 400,000 km on the clock, it's still out there doing what it was built to do.

Keeping up with scheduled servicing, replacing worn parts before they become major failures, and fixing small issues early can add years to the life of your vehicle and help avoid costly breakdowns.

Whether your vehicle has 40,000 km or 400,000 km, looking after it properly is the best investment you can make.
