OK we've been holding this one in for weeks. We're still pinching ourselves.
Caravan World just launched a brand new award at Caravan of the Year 2026, the Judges' Award. It's not like the rest of the scoresheet. The judges sit down at the end of the week, look at every van they tested, and ask each other one question. Forget the points for a second, which one would you actually take home for yourself? Which one stuck with you?
They picked our Solara 2006. Queen of Hearts. We had to read it twice. John Ford and Allison Watt both called it their forever van. Tim van Duyl said our build is a benchmark in the industry. Allison literally wrote that the interior feels akin to a five-star hotel. Coming from a panel that has tested half the off-road caravans on the Australian market, that means something.
Anyway, enough about the win. Let's talk about the actual van.
The Solara 2006 is a 20ft 6in couple's tourer with the kind of layout that just makes sense. Queen bed up front so you wake up looking out the window. Full split ensuite at the back, which means one of you can shower while the other one's brushing teeth. Big club lounge through the middle that genuinely seats four adults and turns into a king single when the grandkids come along.
This is Wonderland's first fully composite caravan. 29mm composite walls. 35mm roof. 18mm honeycomb floor. All bonded with high-density polyethylene PVC edging. Rigid, sealed, quiet on the road. Underneath, an S*M double-box chassis paired with Cruisemaster XT Level 3 airbag suspension. On top, 1000W of solar feeding a 400Ah lithium battery. Plenty of power for the Dometic air-con, the induction cooktop and the air fryer at the same time.
Inside, it's the kind of thing you step into and just go "ah". Timber-look herringbone floors. Neutral fawn fabrics. Recessed lighting that makes it feel warm after dark. A 2.1m kitchen bench with an antibacterial stone-look top. Dusk bronze tapware. A 220L compressor fridge with doors that open both ways. Honestly, photos don't do it justice. You have to step inside one.
So if you've been thinking about a Solara, this is your sign. And if you're heading to a show this winter, come and have a look in person.
The full feature is in the June 2026 issue of Caravan World, on shelves now. Worth grabbing for the cover photo alone.
