The Club's next event (and first for the year) is scheduled for this coming Sunday 21st June.
There are possible showers forecast for the coming days but hopefully there will not be much in them and we should be right to go.
With the unavailability of a grader, Heath Barry from JDI Earthworks and Machinery Hire is going to attack the track with a positrack on Saturday. While this is not ideal, knowing Heath he will have the track looking pretty good by Sat arvo and ready for racing come Sunday.
There will be a quick working bee from 1 on Saturday mainly to mow the pits and some basic set up. Anyone keen to help is more than welcome.
As this will be our first event for the year with lots of paperwork including club memberships, please be early so that we can get away on time. There will be someone there to do entries from 7.

Janet Goodall, who has been doing the trophies for the club for over 25 years has been in Townsville Hospital last week for some major surgery. We wish her well and speedy recovery.

The following weekend is the first round of the Interclub Championship against the old foe, the FNQ Motor Sports Club.
The first round is at the Tepon Speedway, via Herberton.
As the current CHAMPIONS! we need as many of our members there to help defend the Championship and retain the trophy.
Entry is via the Motorsport Australia portal, or manually with the forms which have been emailed out and emailed back to [email protected]
Entries close on Wednesday 24 June at 5pm. There will be no entering on the day.You will also need to bring your race license and club membership card

The Club's next event is scheduled for the 21st June. (2 weeks away)
Now that the rain finally seems to have gone and the track has dried out it is now a matter of getting machinery in to repair the track. Unfortunately the grader that we had lined up is now unavailable so we are trying to make alternative arrangements.

The following weekend is the first round of the Inter Club Championship between us and the FNQ Motorsport Club. With the cancellation of the NQ Series this year it has been agreed by the clubs to run a 4 round series this year instead of the usual two.The dates and venues are;
Rnd 1 27/28 June, Herberton
Rnd 2 15/16 August, Mossman
Rnd 3 26/27 September, Mareeba
Rnd 4 17/16 October, Mossman
At a recent club meeting it was decided to award bonus points towards the 2026 Club Championship for members who travel away and compete in the Inter Club rounds.

Big thanks to Simon Taylor from Taylors Towing and Tilttrays who picked up our new toilet from Cairns last week and delivered it to the track. We are still looking to buy a shower block and then it will be a matter of laying a slab and plumbing it all in.

Kim has been away but she should have the website updated early this week. Thanks Kim.

Unfortunately this Sunday's khanacross and junior motorkhana has been cancelled due to the fact that the track is only now dry enough to think about getting machinery in to repair the damage done by the wet season.
Iam hopeful that we should have the track sorted by the June event.
In the meantime another working bee is planned for this Sunday from 1pm. There are trees still to be cleared from the track, we have to get the bore back up and running and prep the club cars for the years racing.
Hopefully we can have more than just the committee turn up this time.

Thanks to the couple of people who turned up to this mornings working bee. Northy and Damo spent a few hours each on the tractor slashing the pits and some of the track. Simon Taylor brought down his Buggy and spray tank and sprayed the perimeter and cut down a couple of fallen trees and Kieth manned the whipper snipper. And someone took a wrong turn on the mower and got a slowest time plus 5 for a wrong direction.😀 There is still plenty to do at the track before we can race so hopefully we will have a few more members at the next bee.

Later this in the day we caught up with Bob Erry and Shane North from the Douglas Shire Motor Sports Association who were rapt to receive funds for a new toilet block from the Community Gambling Benefit Fund. Thank you for your great community works gents. DSMSA Mossman

Well Northy's persistence has finally paid off! Last week he was notified that the Club's grant application for installing showers and toilets at the track has been approved. Yahoo! The grant through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund is worth $21000 to the club. We should have loos and showers at the track within the next few months.
A working bee is planned at the track this Sunday morning the12th. (provided this rain pi**es off) We need to mow the pits and track, remove fallen trees and tidy up the place ready for the race year to start. We have also had an offer of the use of a grader to grade the track. That of course will have to wait until the track dries out. Working bee starts at 9 and we should be finished by lunch. If you can bring a whipper snipper or chainsaw that would help.
It has been decided by the organisers to cancel this years NQ Khanacross Championship due to the rising fuel costs and uncertainty of supply. Bit disappointing as it is always good to travel down south to other clubs and try out different tracks. As a result of this Cairns Club President Shane Buchanan has proposed to make the yearly Interclub Challenge a four round series. Two rounds in Mossman and two at Herberton or Mareeba. Let me know what you think. Sounds Like a good idea to me.
The Club's next event is planned for 17th May provided it stops raining and we can get the track sorted.
The Sunday after that is the Coastal Show and Shine car show in Port Douglas. We are looking for members to display their cars and man a club stand. Let me know if you can help.
