N Australia put on another amazing N Festival. We took our two cars. Ellie's i20N and our i30 Sedan N. It was great seeing so many enthusiasts out together.
The i30 Sedan N and i20N were both right up the pointy end but the i30 was a rocket. 1:25.9 out of a "stock" sedan N. Cherry Tuning & Performance removed the octane learning as we were struggling to get laps in without it. We haven't seen anything else get close to that time at least not with rego plates.
The Sedan had Project-Mu Australia HC+ brake pads fitted along with Bremtec F2R 2 Piece Rotors. The car never had fade throughout any of the sessions. As well as Weds TC105X from Import Monster and Yokohama Tyre Australia Advan A052
We have been working with Keith 4 Wheels (Juan does a heap of our work) for an alignment on the factory suspension that we are happy with. I think we are now at that point. Next we will be throwing in some camber bolts before coilovers go in and we look at doing bushes and arms.
The i20N we were less happy with. It will be going up on the setup patch for a check over and alignment along with some basic maintenance work carried out (Keith 4 Wheels did not do this work). It's had a hard 3 years of abuse. it did a 1:28.3 in the peak of the heat on Friday with traffic but it wasn't a comfortable car to drive and should be well into the 25s.
Cherry's tune on the i20N made a world of difference over the Racechip (which was still pretty good) Mid range power and throttle response were greatly improved. Can't wait to get the bigger turbo back on.
We also had another customer car out. N Mode had its first track outing and performed well minus some teething issues which will be fixed over the Christmas break.
It has been a Labour of love for many years by two friends in their backyard garage. The car was flogged by Luke King (Carrera Cup Driver), Eleanor Terry, Andrew Price, Dalton Ellery and the owner and did not miss a beat.
This will be one very fast car when it is all done.
Thank you to all the Nthusiasts that made the weekend a pleasure.
