WARNING... People may find some images and story disturbing......
Well here we are (something i was not supposed to make originally) 2 years since the day I sent a hospital and medical staff from ER and cardiogenic ward into chaos. Now if i ever wanted to be remembered for anything in my life, this is not what I would have thought it would be, that day is still remembered by staff in the hospital to this day, and still talked about 🥲.
Well what started out as a straight forward procedure, turned into a nightmare with my heart filling with blood clots and stopping and my lungs 🫁 filling with blood and me arresting suffering cardiogenic shock and complete heart failure, staff went into overdrive when the metcall sounded and apparently an open chat with cardiologist around Aus went out on what to do to try and save me, which took just over an hour, with continual CPR, 8 hits with the defib, a couple push adrenalin hits, while trying to clear arteries in my heart of blood clots, while connecting ECHMO and full life support.
Because the heart had stopped they had to put a balloon in the heart to simulate a heartbeat until it could beat on its own again.
So it took 3 days before they could try and stop the ballon to see if my heart would beat again, unfortunately it would only beat a couple times then stop, and they would have to start it again as it set all the alarms off.
Day five my heart finally started working again on its own and they removed the ballon, but I still wasn't out of the woods yet as the still had to remove the ventilation and wake me, then access what damage may have been done to the mind or body.
15 days later I got out of ICU and sent to coronary care, with the possibility of around 3 to 6 mths in hospital, well I wasn't having that and through determination, managed to be out of hospital in 36 days from when it happened, the words miracle, unbelievable where used regularly in my room by specialists, doctors and staff...... but for every action there is an equal or worse reaction 🤔 and even with my miraculous recovery the down hill slide was lurking in the background waiting to pounce.....
And it did, 6 mths after getting out and trying to rehabilitate, they had to admit there was no coming back from what I went through and it will all be down hill from there😪.
So we have been through all the highs and lows of survival now, and dying does not come without any side effects, when your body goes through a complete reset it really f* with it, the physical breakdown off the body, functions, mind and with me the hardest one for Julie Von Bibra Higgins to deal with... I now have no emotions, my emotional side is as dark and black as death was, so I struggle to show julie emotions when she is upset, even giving her cuddles and kisses, and that is hard for her because we were always very close and loving of each other, but thank God for us when know how much we mean to each other, and im working hard at trying to turn that around.
So here we are today 2 years since dying, it will be another 5 days before I rise from the dead when the heart started beating on its own, now i have reached this milestone i am feeling like i could push this out alot longer hopefully as long as the heart keeps playing the game, as julie and I have some big plans in motion that I want to see out and see her set up for life and hopefully I get to enjoy for a good while myself.
trying to stay positive all the time is a battle when the bloody body keeps sh****ng on me. So at this point I would like to say a massive that's to all the family, friends, customers and my mates or brothers as I will call them from the Asphalt Demons, that continually call or message to check up on me, julie, my boys and julies boys, you guys really helped me hold it all together and showed me that julie will be in good hands when my time is done here.❤️❤️
So here is the clincher and the end to this post, before this happened julie and I often spoke about what to do if either of us ended up in hospital on machines, I always said... turn them off... well they bloody didn't, and im clad they didn't as it gave me the opportunity to set julie up so she doesnt have to worry about anything after im gone, but if i had the same chance again... turn the bloody thing off, there is a big difference in quality of life to quantity.
So cheers people if you made it this far, now I only have to wait 5 days to celebrate 🥳 my new birthday 😂😂👍.
Peace and love to all and stay tuned... hopefully we get the chance to catch up with as many as possible soon....
